Magnus Lindberg is the finest and most exciting composer of alive. His early music is very difficult[but still good] though it will require evolved ears to enjoy.10/10

Robin Holloway is a wonderful composer. His compositions are expertly crafted and witty and are a pleasure to listen to. Recommendations-Second Cto for Orch. Third Cto for Orch. Violin Concerto. etc 8/10

John Adams is the king of modern classical music. His music appeals to all genres. For those new, start with Naive and Sentimental Music, then Harmonielehre. 10]10

Rautavaara-The old man and leader of the Finnish School. His music is accessible to all willing to listen and is most often beautiful and emotional. 10/10

Paul Moravec-one of my favourite modern composers. Busy, clear music that is absolutely entrancing. Every album on Naxos is worth buying. 10/10

Kimmo Hakola-pupil of Raut and member of the dominat Finnish School.

Silvestrov is difficult and requires slow, close listening. He can either be severly difficult or nostalgically gorgeous depending on the piece. This disc, along with Nostalghia, and his Symphony 5, and his requiem would be great places to start.

Golijov is probably the perfect introduction to modern music. He is accessible to everyone and is not complex at all. Easy accessibilty with a gift for melody.

Corigliano's early stuff can be difficult, as can some of his modern stuff but he is one of the finest living composers. This disc is fantastic. Most will be familiar with him through the music to the Red Violin.

Another Grawenmayer award winner. This is a fun, busy disc of fast paced yet delicately orchestrated music. Sebastian Currier.

Wonderful disc of three modern Flute Concerto's. marc-andre Dalbavie is sometimes difficult but is a fantastic orchestrator.

This disc by Jonathan Harvey won Gramaphones Modern disc of the year and it deserved it. Highly accessible to everyone though stay away for Harvey;'s other music[for the most part]

One of my favourite recent releases. The composer I am highlighting here is Anders Hillborg. I am still not convinced of his abilities yet, but this disc would be a great place to start for those new to modern classical music.

Takemitsu is another fantastic place to start. His music is often gorgeous and profound. This will appeal to everyone interested in relaxing, deep music.

This disc is a marvel and one of the finest of the year. Christopher Theofanidis is fantastic and getting better and better. This disc, specifically also contains a work by Paul Moravec--really a great place to start and 10/10

Premiere recording of Sofia Gubaidulina's Violin Concerto 2. It is quite riveting, emotional draining, and completely worth the time spent listening. There are moments which will make you think the sky is falling. Also rec-Stimmen. Offertorium. Bassoon Cto. Flute Cto. many things......

Fun disc of difficult music. Highly entertaining, though it remains to be seen regarding the longevity of the composers.

Ruders is difficult, but again, worth the time. However, much of his music is waaaay out there.

I actually dont know if Sviridov is still living but I love his music. This album is excellent and Hvorostovsky is a singer you must know[GOD I WISH HE WOULD PERFORM WAGNER!!!!]
