In 1967, "Sgt. Pepper" was the album of the year in the UK. The hottest "indie" album in London, however, was this one. "Astronomy Domine" and "Interstellar Overdrive" are amazing pieces of psychedelica; "Matilda Mother" and "The Scarecrow" show a softer, whimsical side to composer Syd Barrett; "Take Up Thy Stethoscope and Walk" is Roger Waters' first step towards writing 'The Wall'.

Truly a great album. It introduced modal jazz to the world, but don't worry about that if you don't know much about jazz. It's a great listen.

One of the best bass players you've never heard of. In terms of sheer excellence, he ranks up there with Vic Wooten, although his style is much different. Perhaps the only musician to master the 6-string bass.

In its day, it was considered the best Beatles LP before "Sgt. Pepper". Now, some polls put this album above "Pepper". "Tomorrow Never Knows" is the best song to close an album of all time.

What would have been "Sgt. Pepper's" biggest competition had to wait until several decades had passed to be fully recorded and released. Was it worth the wait? No question.

One of the best series for contemporary Christian rock available. I recommend just about all of them.

Salieri was _not_ a mediocre composer; that's a myth begun by the movie "Amadeus", which never claimed to get certain details right. He was above average -- listening to him instead of Mozart is listening to The Monkees instead of The Beatles. Anyone can tell you that, on the whole, The Monkees weren't as good. But "I'm a Believer" is not something to be missed.
