![]() | Bicentennial Man
Buy new: $13.49 / Used from: $2.45 I really hope that no one comes away from this film thinking that it bears any insight into the talent of Asimov.
|
![]() | I, Robot (Widescreen Edition)
Buy new: $10.49 / Used from: $1.23 Shows very little respect to the source. All that these filmakers seemed to have wanted was a broad idea that they could turn into an action flik. Yuck!

![]() | The Time Machine
Buy new: $12.49 / Used from: $1.97 Poor H.G. Wells. This film is just depressing. And not in a good way.
|
![]() | War of the Worlds (Widescreen Edition)
Buy new: $11.49 / Used from: $0.01 The atheist Wells would have cringed at the religious message that is so unbeileivably forced onto the end of this film. I'll admist, some of the special effects were pretty good, in fact the visual portrayal of the tripods combined with the wonderfully chilling sounds they made were really good. Unfortunately, the effects were not enough to save the movie from a poor handling of plot structure.

![]() | Around the World in 80 Days (Widescreen Edition)
Buy new: $13.49 / Used from: $0.99 Just flat out stupid. This is not how to show respect to one of the fathers of the genre.
|
![]() | The Matrix
Buy used from: $0.01 The action scenes are sort of cool I guess, but the fact that Keanu Reeves is the star of this film completely ruins any potential it had. If you want a real cyber punk film then I would suggest 'Blade Runner'.
|
![]() | Starship Troopers (Special Edition)
Buy used from: $1.98 The worst film on the list by far! In fact, this might very well be one of the worst films of all time. The idiots that made this cinematic travesty even had the gall to insult Heinlein by making insinuations about the so-called fascist leanings of his original novel! There is nothing worse than a self righteous philistine.
|
![]() | Dagon
Buy new: $13.49 / Used from: $5.25 Did I say Starship Troopers was the worst movie on the film? Whoops, I spoke too soon. I'm glad H.P. Lovecraft isn't alive today to see this. I think its safe to say this probably didn't get a wider circulation than the tortuously inane 'Sci-Fi Channel'.
|
![]() | The Haunting
Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $1.18 How one of the greatest Horror novels of the last century could be turned into such a bad movie is beyond me. But this movie is bad, it is really bad!
|
![]() | Dracula (75th Anniversary Edition) (Universal Legacy Series)
Buy new: $22.99 / Used from: $14.08 Not as bad as most of the films on this list, in fact, I would venture to say that this is somewhat entertaining at times. However, the low level of respect payed to Bram Stoker's classic novel earns this film a place on this list.
|
![]() | Frankenstein (75th Anniversary Edition) (Universal Legacy Series)
Buy new: $20.99 / Used from: $4.48 Yeah that's right, im including this 'classic' on my list too. What are you going to do about it? Leaving aside the films popular appeal and effect on the movie industry, when one has read the sublime novel that bears the same name, this movie just doesn't cut it.
|
![]() | Sleepy Hollow
Buy new: $10.99 / Used from: $1.33 I wanted to like this movie, I really did. I mean, with the director of such films as 'Beetlejuice' and 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' doing an adaptation of Irving's classic, I was sure it would be good. Well it wasn't. In fact this film is down right terrible.
