![]() | Live Rust by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Buy new: $10.99 / Used from: $4.48 This is my number one Neil album. If I was trapped on a desert island this would be the one disc I would bring. Why? Because it has a little of everything. His soothing soulful acoustic and buzzsaw electric stuff. Highlights include "Sugar Mountain", :When You Dance I Can Really Love," and "Cortez the Killer" the song that made me fall in love with Neil.

![]() | After the Gold Rush by Neil Young
Buy new: $10.99 / Used from: $2.58 After the Gold Rush...talk about nostagia! That song gave me goosebumps for years. That and Don't Let it Bring You Down. The most heart wrenching song is Birds. Ever have to go your separate ways with someone you love? Don't listen to Birds or you may want to jump out a window. It's that good!

![]() | Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Buy new: $11.98 / Used from: $2.50 This album is Crazy Horse! The chorus of the title track is so catchy. It's the songs that people don't know that are so eery though like the "Round and Round" with these female vocalists are so surreal. Of course "Cowgirl in the Sand" and "Down By the River" are classics.

![]() | Decade by Neil Young
Buy new: $22.99 / Used from: $4.49 Decade is cool because it has songs I would never have heard of like "Campaigner" Also some of his early tunes like "Soldier", and "Down To the Wire." Soldier is hypnotizing. In think this is where I really started to appreciate Neil's voice. It also has the Buffalo Springfield tunes like "Mr. Soul", "Broken Arrow" and "Expecting to Fly."

![]() | Tonight's the Night by Neil Young
Buy new: $10.99 / Used from: $5.37 This disc is so soulful. "Tonight's the Night" is so deep and "Tired Eyes" is haunting. "Albuquerque" is a great tune with a great refrain. "New Mama" is a slow jam but the album is electric. It os one of his better albums.
|
![]() | Harvest by Neil Young
Buy new: $10.99 / Used from: $0.98 This album has to be on this list. It is his most popular which is why it's so low. The song "Alabama" is what motivated Lynard Skynard to write "Sweet Home Alabama." Southern Man is one of the best songs ever written about racism. "Old Man" and "Heart of Gold" are classic and one of the most bizarre Neil songs "A Man Needs a Maid."
|
![]() | Freedom by Neil Young
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $1.23 The acoustic version of "Keep on Rockin' In the Freeworld" was recorded at Jones Beach on 1988. I was there and on acid. They also played the epic song "Crime in the City." I always wanted to write a screenplay using all the characters from this song. I could get Neil to make it.
|
![]() | Weld (2 disc set) by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Buy new: $14.99 / Used from: $5.53 The show took place during Desert Storm and he plays a version of Jimi Hendrix's "Star Spangled Banner" and Dylan's "Blowin' In the Wind" It's all electric and includes my favorites "Like a Hurricane," "Hey Hey My My" and "Cortez the Killer."
|
![]() | On the Beach by Neil Young
Buy new: $10.99 / Used from: $5.98 This is one of the best least known Neil albums. I have to admit that I don't always know the name's of the songs but I always know the words. Two beautiful songs are the title track "On the Beach" and "See the Sky About to Rain." This is another mostly mellow one.
|
![]() | Mirror Ball by Neil Young
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $0.49 This album is like recess peanut butter cups. Like Peanut Butter? Like chocolate? Pearl Jam sounds great with Neil. The song "I'm the Ocean" had been on the soundtrack of the movie of my life. If I have one complaint it's that I would love it if Eddie sung more. Oh, well. They also did the EP Merker Ball which has Eddie singing on the three tunes.
