I'd go with a higher quality notebook cooler if you're bringing a laptop. I had a cheaper one that crapped out often and I'm currently trying to get a refund from the factory.

Very nice mouse for working wherever. USB dongle goes flush with the computer, unlike the two I have (which can be a big inconvenience.

Need a printer; computer labs aren't always open, especially not late, and you have to pay to make copies, and only copier I know of for student use on my school's campus is all the way over in the library

To be used when your roommate doesn't like your music, when you're playing computer games and need a mic for teamspeak, or when your roommate's sleeping

Again, you can't always trust your roommate to lock the room. Also works with certain LCD tvs (mine does)
