 | Brighter Than Creation's Dark by Drive-By Truckers
Buy new: $14.99 / Used from: $6.99 DBT remain quite simply the best rock band in America (or anywhere). It was hard to follow up their previous four masterpieces. Impossibly high expectations are the only reason this isn't higher in my list.

Buy new: $13.98 / Used from: $6.00 Another band I resisted because of the hype surrounding them. Again, I have to admit I was wrong. This is a great album with exceptionally well written songs.

Buy new: $7.99 This band from Murfreesburo, TN, are a new discovery for me in 2008. This is simply a fantastic album that I downloaded for free, which was a great strategy for the band as I went back and filled in their back catalog.

Buy new: $13.99 / Used from: $6.99 Byrne and Eno team up again. I downloaded this right away and shelved it after a listen or two. For some reason, I listened again and loved it. Must have been a mood thing.

Buy new: $10.97 / Used from: $4.51 In Anaheim w/ a rental car for a conference and facing a long drive to Dodger Stadium, I stopped off at a Target and bought this (only decent disc I could find). I listened to it the rest of the trip and grew to be quite fond of it. "Everybody Get Dangerous" reminds me of how stupid we were as kids and scares me that my kids will follow in my stupid adolescent footsteps.
