The Pack [VHS]The Pack [VHS]

Best canine horror film ever. They need to release this on DVD!
Devil Dog; Hound of HellDevil Dog; Hound of Hell
Buy new: $13.49 / Used from: $9.27
Great German Shepherd Dog in this who uses his mind instead of his teeth to get his way.
CujoCujo

Cujo was trained by Karl Lewis Miller, trainer for The Pack, Babe, K-9, Beethoven, and many other animal actors.
Wes Craven Presents The BreedWes Craven Presents The Breed
Buy new: $24.49 / Used from: $1.42
Similar to The Pack, though not nearly as good. Dogs include German shepherds, both long and smooth coats, and Belgian Malinois and Tervurens. The best thing about The Breed was a wonderful special featurette showing how the dogs were trained for the film.
Zoltan, Hound Of DraculaZoltan, Hound Of Dracula
Buy used from: $2.43
With a Doberman and a family of German Shepherds, along with other dogs. Great makeup (on the dogs).
Man's Best FriendMan's Best Friend
Buy new: $9.98 / Used from: $3.67
Cover shows a Rottweiler, but 'Max' is really a Tibetan Mastiff.
Atomic Dog [VHS]Atomic Dog [VHS]
Buy used from: $9.90
Doesn't look it on the cover, but the dog star in this is a White German Shepherd. Several other dogs as well.
The People Under The StairsThe People Under The Stairs
Buy new: $11.99 / Used from: $3.68
Great, well trained, Rottweiler, "Prince," in this one (also animatronics used). Trained by Roger Schumacher, who worked with Karl Lewis Miller on The Pack and was head trainer for Atomic Dog.
LuckyLucky
Buy new: $9.98 / Used from: $0.71
Bad telepathic dead dog, bad!
WildernessWilderness
Buy new: $9.98 / Used from: $0.93
Despite the canine medley on the DVD cover, Wilderness’s only dogs are German Shepherds: A pack of four trained to attack and leave their victims according to a whistle, much like many herding dogs.
DogsDogs
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $4.00
All the local dogs decide the people must die. A.K.A. Slaughter.
RottweilerRottweiler
Buy new: $13.49 / Used from: $0.99
Rottweiler conveys a killer machine/dog through animatronics, CGI and a real dog named Zeus. Although the film is one to avoid, CGI and makeup over Zeus (including prosthetic teeth) make it interesting viewing for those fascinated by dogs in film. For anyone else; give it a wide birth.
Day of the AnimalsDay of the Animals
Buy new: $17.99 / Used from: $8.21
All the animals in this film have gone bad. The reason for being on this list is a pack of killer German Shepherds. A.K.A. Something is Out There.
To Kill a Clown [VHS]To Kill a Clown [VHS]
Buy used from: $2.55
A pair of Dobermans are working for the man, but still killers.
Play Dead [VHS]Play Dead [VHS]
Buy used from: $3.44
This one could have been better if the dog, a Rottweiler, was just better trained. Note: This is the only 'killer dog' film I know of where the dog being portrayed is female. Though she was played by both male and female dogs.
Madhouse [VHS]Madhouse [VHS]
Buy used from: $1.77
A lower budget precursor to The People Under the Stairs. Also with a Rott, though the dog gets much less screen-time than the one in TPUTS.
Devil DogDevil Dog
Extremely low budget film featuring a friendly dog who sort of wanders around the set while the actors occasionally act frightened of it. Poorly written and executed and very poorly acted.
Dogs of Hell [VHS]Dogs of Hell [VHS]
Buy used from: $5.10
Possibly the worst dog horror film ever made. The Rottweilers in this one are hardly ever seen and never actually attack; there's just a rush of movement and people fall to the ground, screaming off camara.
The Thing [HD DVD]The Thing [HD DVD]
Buy used from: $5.10
The dogs don't become the bad guys until The Thing gets a hold of them. Main dog is played by Jed, also in The Journey of Natty Gann, and White Fang.
DogboysDogboys
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $2.28
Not sure if this is really considered a horror film. About corrupt prison guards using inmates as bait for their killer dogs. A.K.A. Tracked.
The Killer ShrewsThe Killer Shrews
Buy new: $7.98 / Used from: $1.45
Not really killer dogs, but the 'Shrews' in this 1959 film were dogs dressed in shrew suits.
