Marlon Brando was nominated for a best actor Oscar in 1974 for his portrayal of a lifeless man in Paris in a movie that was originally rated X and moved from X to NC-17 in 1997.

Buy used from: $1.97 Your anticipation will be blacked out with this NC-17 that was airbrushed with silhouettes for the R rated version. Good news! The Stanley Kubrick box set has the original version, however there is little difference between the two.

Buy new: $24.98 / Used from: $9.03 You will either love it or hate it, but don't watch the R-rated version of this NC-17 as the cuts in the celluloid are much much worse than the cuts in the characters.

Buy new: $27.49 / Used from: $3.98 A documentary about the x-rated industry's most famous film gets an NC-17 for explicit scenes from the movie including the oral sex of the title.

Buy used from: $2.48 No NC-17 list could be complete without the penultimate "Showgirls". The most asked question is how Elizabeth Berkley could ever recover her career after such a low show. This movie has been accorded a cult like status. Much better than the critics' roasting.

Buy new: $17.99 / Used from: $6.65 The Italians removed the sex scenes from this movie and it played as the equivalent of a G-rated feature. The MPAA, founders of the NC-17, annointed this movie for the immortal list and then changed its mind, making this the only NC-17 that isn't. Gee!

Buy used from: $23.99 This NC-17 movie is one of the few that has never been seen in the US as an NC-17. You might win a filmography trivia contest if you know the leading actor's relatives.

Buy new: $13.49 / Used from: $1.95 The slip cover calls this an Unrated film. The IMDB says "Director Atom Egoyan made cuts to the film in a failed attempt to challenge the NC-17 rating given by the MPAA. When in doubt unrate it!

Buy new: $22.49 / Used from: $14.50 Yet another movie that was originally rated X. This movie was moved to NC-17 in 2002. Sumptious photography and beautiful women and men with a story line about submission, pain and pleasure. Not explicit, but extremely graphic.

Buy new: $16.49 / Used from: $5.95 Another example of how one of the finest directors in the history of cinema can end up on the NC-17 list.

Buy new: $37.49 / Used from: $21.99 One of the few examples of explicit sexual content on this adults only list. And the explicit scenes were added after the rest of the cast and crew had quit work for the day.

 | Zack and Miri Make a Porno (2-Disc Edition)
Buy new: $19.95 / Used from: $6.75 One the funniest movies in the collection. And a movie about making a porn movie to boot. This is the most recent example of an NC-17 that I have in my personal collection yet it is not truly an NC-17 as it has been rerated to an R on appeal.
