With Dr Faustus and Glaspferlenspiel those rare books who sum up the problematic society.

Amazing that after the Magic Mountain Thomas Mann could write another one, like Dr Faustus. Some of the best books of all time. No plot-pllot-plot, but just beautiful style. A pity they no longer write like this.

Reading Proust has so far been the most thilling intellectual experience of my life. It takes long to digest the cookie, more than 3000 pages, but do it!

Together with the Republic of Plato this is a very readable and exciting classic.

For those who have not yet read it, give it a go! Beautiful epic on humanity in America's difficult times.

Read this one first, then Death on Installment. You will never forget both, and probably like the latter even more.

Brilliant picture of the main character, put together with pieces of others from the outside. Of course, about World War 2 and all the difficult ethical questions that come with it.
