Bergman use of light is wonderful. His way of conveying the complexity of religion via metaphor is fascinating too. I picked the Virgin Spring because not only is it the birth of the revenge movie, it also has some strong old ways vs. Christianity themes in it.

This might be the most awesome movie I have ever seen. A great idea, funny and looooooong. Connects with A Zed and Two Noughts, the Tulse Luper Trilogy and just about everything else he has done.

I like all of Guy's work but since I like Dracula adaptations, this won wins the raffle. Brand on the Brain! comes a close second.

His most accessible movie but that isn't saying much.

You can pause this anywhere during the film and you will have an image that is perfect, beautiful and strange.

Sally Potter is the first woman director on my list. I like a lot of movies made by female directors, yet very few of them can make names for themselves. Though I like her later films, this one is the best book adaptation I have experienced.

My favorite film of Rollin's. It is a vampire film that starts out Fellini-esque, with clowns and all that. Great atmosphere.

One of my favorite films, everything is right about it. The Real Blonde is also good, but not at the level this is.

Brazil is one of those movies you could watch over as soon as you are done with it. Get this set because the movie has been remastered in this version and it's lovely to look at, never mind the terror...I always thought it had a happy ending, weird odd me. I also like most of his work, 12 Monkeys and Time Bandits stick out strongly for me.

James Whale was a great man. Catch Gods and Monsters if you can.

This is a completely crazy movie, you think that no one would actually have the guts to make something like this, but this guy did.

I don't understand much of Fellini's work and downright hate a lot of it, but Roma is wonderful. The part where they find the ruins that fall apart once they are exposed to humans and air really touched me.

A good storyteller, this one has a whole black and white mind blowing part of the film. It's abut girlfriends in a coma. I know it's serious.

Lewis' work is gore. Gore, gore, gore. This is gore about an Egyptian man who wants to make a Blood Feast to the goddess.

I love the Sunset/Sunrise movies. There is something so simple in them that draws you in. Another example of good "talking" films.

8 Dolls for an August Moon is the best, mod-tastic, moody and atmospheric to the maximum.

I am going to put Dame Darcy ad Lisa Hammer here. I don't think Lisa lists her movies here, but they are on her website to buy, at least the last time I looked. Dame Darcy is a crazy one woman show.

That Pabst was a blue ribbon sort of guy.

Good times, I needed some more mainstream fare on here.

Finally out on DVD!!!! Yeah, it is released the same day as The Dark Knight, though I try to tell people "hey Europa is coming out!" I like The Kingdom too, this is just the best Von Trier experience you will ever get. I also liked Dear Wendy about mods and guns.
