This is my all-time favorite Metal album by Metal greats Metallica. 'Ride the Lightning' is such a legendary that it is hard to define. Released in 1983, every track is great and remains great, but my favorite could be 'For Whom the Bell Tolls'. If you like this then check out '...And Justice for All' by the same band, or else material by Megadeth.

'Dark Side of the Moon' is Pink Floyd's perennial classic. It has sold millions and remains popular today. It is psychedlic influenced, spacy music that is arranged and timed to perfection. Although I was tempted to put 'Meddle' on here instead I chose this mega-album. A must-hear for any fan of rock music from the 60's and 70's.

No list of the greatest Rock'n'Roll music would be complete without The Beatles. I basically think that most of the Beatles music is very good, but that they reached their peak in 1966-1967. That means 'Revolver' and 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' are their greatest acheivements.

This is my second-favorite album from Metallica. This band in my opinion towered above their peers. Every song is excellent and epic. The sound is incredible, and the songwriting is top-level. I have always thought that everything by Metallica was great (except maybe 'Re-Load'), but this is among their best. 'Master of Puppets' is the band's most critically acclaimed album.

I decided to include 'In the Court of the Crimson King', not because it is necessaily my absolute favorite prog-rock album, but it is the most influential and important. The one that started progressive rock music in the first place back in 1969. Robert Fripp is the band's leader and demonstrates fascinating guitar playing ability on this album. 'Red' could arguably be even better.

The inclusion of this album, might be controversial in some quarters. I decided to include it because I really love it, and it sold upwards of 7 million copies. All the musicians on it are fantastic, and I have even had the pleasure of seeing Crosby Stills and Nash play. 'Crosby Still & Nash', the bands debut album, is almost equally as good.

'Sgt. Pepper' is the pinnacle of psychedelic rock. It, however, might be a tad overrated. After all it was Rolling Stones number 1 album of all time on a recent list of greatest albums, and tops many other lists as well. I still think 'Revolver' is better, and 'Abbey Road' is more accomplished, but Sgt. Pepper is the most original.

This grand product is my favorite Jimi Hendrix album. It has sprawling songs and compositions that are dramatic and intense. Hendrix was obviously a legend and for good reason. I really found that this album, his last release, is notably better than his previous two albums as the guitarist got much more accomplished with age.
