Some of the amazon reviewers have interesting insight about this work. The follow-up, Ultimate Vision is also interesting, but is more classic Sci-Fi and less spandex.

Buy new: $19.79 / Used from: $9.75 My favorite character in comics (a pox on those who think he has no character). Ideally, this would excise New Mutants 87, and include the Fathers and Sons story (issues 6-8). Volume 2 would be issues 19-35 and volume 3 would hold The Adventures of Cyclops & Phoenix, Askani Son, and Books of the Askani.

Buy new: $19.79 / Used from: $4.99 New Gods, redone by Walt Simonson; Galactus, rethought by Warren Ellis. Now, The Eternals, given a new treatment by Neil Gaiman. Jack Kirby seems to have been such a visionary and inspiration that reworking his ideas in a modern context, by top talent, immediately makes them the top works in whatever era they've been re-thunk in.
