![]() | The Fragile by Nine Inch Nails
Buy new: $22.99 / Used from: $4.81 This is still my favorite album, ever since I heard it 3 or 4 years ago. It was challenging at the beginning, but I have grown to love all the intricacies of this 2 disc set.

![]() | Kid A by Radiohead
Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $3.09 My favorite Radiohead album, but just about their entire discography is worth the price of admission.
![]() | Seal by Seal
Buy new: $12.99 / Used from: $0.01 The MOST underrated album ever. I bought a used copy of this on a whim two years ago and have hardly stopped listening to it since. The music is so beautiful thanks to producer Trevor Horn. The lyrics are so powerful, and Seal's voice is a gift from God. This album is just awesome. A pop album that every rock fan should own.

![]() | Pink Moon by Nick Drake
Buy new: $10.99 / Used from: $5.00 I am forever grateful that I was put on to the CD. It is simply Nick Drake and his guitar (along with a piano on the title track.) Hauntingly beautiful.
![]() | Veckatimest by Grizzly Bear
Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $8.00 My favorite album of 2009, and not just because Pitchfork loved it. This is really some of the most innovative music I've listened to, and is totally worth the acclaim it has received.
![]() | Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water by Limp Bizkit
Buy new: $13.98 / Used from: $0.01 Everybody had this cd at the turn of the millenium. I still listen to it and reminisce about the good times I had back then, but only on occasion.
![]() | Whatever and Ever Amen by Ben Folds Five
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $3.55 This album is so underrated. My dad has had this since it came out, and I love it. Seeing Ben in concert a couple years ago only makes me appreciate this, his best album by far, even more.
![]() | Hellbilly Deluxe by Rob Zombie
Buy new: $13.98 / Used from: $0.01 From the horror movie-inspired lyrics and imagery to the NIN-lite styled production, this cd was perfect for me at 13 or 14.
![]() | Break the Cycle by Staind
Buy new: $14.98 / Used from: $2.54 I had this cd when I was young, but many of the tracks are still great to listen to today (Outside, It's Been Awhile, For You)...This is Staind's *only* shining moment.
![]() | End of All Things to Come (Bonus Dvd) by Mudvayne
Buy new: $15.98 / Used from: $2.96 I really liked this album after my Rob Zombie stage, and the producer of this also produced Lateralus, which I got into a few years later.
![]() | Good Times, Bad Times ...Ten Years of Godsmack by Godsmack
Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $6.99 Godsmack were one of my favorite bands for years. My favorite album of theirs was the acoustic "The Other Side," but the live acoustic dvd in this set tops that.
![]() | The Autumn Effect by 10 Years
Buy new: $10.99 / Used from: $3.06 I still enjoy this album, and it is a great turning point for people who listen to rock radio to start listening to tool, porcupine tree, and other modern progressive bands.
![]() | Thirteenth Step by A Perfect Circle
Buy new: $14.99 / Used from: $3.90 This band takes some of the best parts of Tool, and consolidates it to catchy, Danny Lohner-produced awesomeness.
![]() | Lateralus by Tool
Buy used from: $6.99 Tied with Aenima for Tool's best album. Great production, great songs, everything you could ask for in an album.
![]() | In Absentia by Porcupine Tree
Buy new: $10.99 / Used from: $4.09 This is the album that turned me on to this band. It is great. Not too trippy for newbies like myself, but not overly poppish. Download "Trains," and if you like that then buy the rest of the album. You won't be disappointed. For fans of Tool, NIN, but also Pink Floyd and Rush.
![]() | Ghosts I - IV by Nine Inch Nails
Buy new: $16.98 / Used from: $6.89 The release of this album was the most exciting for me. I downloaded it for $5 here on amazon.com on the day it was surprisingly released online, and have been listening to it regularly since then. If you like the instrumentals on "Still" or "The Fragile," you will love this.
![]() | Heathen by David Bowie
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $2.02 Bowie's best modern album. Not as energetic as Earthling, not as boring as Hours, just right. Fans of Bowie old and new alike should own this.
![]() | The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway by Genesis
Buy used from: $25.96 I cannot believe that this is the same band (minus the amazingly talented Gabriel) who released all those lame singles during the 80's. Also check out Peter Gabriel's solo stuff.
![]() | Low by David Bowie
Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $4.99 This whole album, and especially the instrumental second side, is such a challenging and rewarding listen. Bowie and Brian Eno are such a terrific duo. Besides the two albums on this list, everyone should listen to as much Bowie as they possibly can. You can't really go wrong.
![]() | Music from the Motion Picture "Purple Rain" by Prince & the Revolution
Buy new: $10.99 / Used from: $2.66 Both the soundtrack and the movie itself are so stylistic and unique. One of the few '80s pop albums I am proud to own.
![]() | Kind of Blue by Miles Davis
Buy used from: $43.85 The universally-acclaimed starting point for those who would like to get into jazz.
![]() | The Essential 3.0 Miles Davis (eco-Friendly Packaging) by Miles Davis
Buy new: $15.97 / Used from: $7.86 The only reasonably-priced Miles compilation worth the money. All three of the discs are absolutely fantastic. A stellar collection, especially if you don't want to go buy the individual albums (but you should!).
![]() | Bitches Brew by Miles Davis
Buy new: $14.99 / Used from: $9.32 A completely different Miles. I don't own much from his second great quintet, but this album and "In a Silent Way", released after the demise of that band, are extremely rewarding listens.
![]() | Original Album Classics by Miles Davis
Buy new: $17.98 / Used from: $19.98 A great collection of Miles Davis' '57 to '59 output. Leads right up to his classics "Kind of Blue" and "Sketches of Spain." 5 discs for a great price.
![]() | Fever Ray (2CD/DVD) [Deluxe Edition] by Fever Ray
Buy new: $14.99 / Used from: $17.07 One of the most interesting albums I've heard in a long time. Definitely will be listening to this even after 2009 comes to a close.
![]() | A Love Supreme by John Coltrane
Buy new: $10.99 / Used from: $7.05 A must for any music fan's collection.
