![]() | The Friday Night Knitting Club (Friday Night Knitting Club Novels) by Kate Jacobs
Buy new: $10.08 / Used from: $0.01 I actually enjoyed this book even though it didn't get the best reviews. It made me want to learn how to knit!

![]() | The Vintage Book of Contemporary American Short Stories

![]() | The Vintage Book of Contemporary American Poetry by J.D. McClatchy
Buy new: $12.24 / Used from: $5.77 |
![]() | The Coquette - The History of Eliza Wharton by Hannah Webster Foster
Buy new: $9.45 / Used from: $13.66 I read this book for my 19th Century Women's Lit and it was definitely not one of my favorites. It was really hard to get into and I didn't relate to it very well.
![]() | Mao II: A Novel by Don DeLillo
Buy new: $10.20 / Used from: $1.48 Not my favorite DeLillo novel, but I think reading it and discussing it in class made it more enjoyable.
![]() | A Room of One's Own (Annotated) by Virginia Woolf
Buy new: $10.20 / Used from: $4.99 Definitely not Mrs. Dalloway, but I enjoy reading Woolf for the most part; it's always fun to try and figure out what she was really thinking when she wrote her novels and what she was trying to get across.
![]() | Ruth Hall and Other Writings by Fanny Fern (American Woman Writers Series)
Buy new: $17.79 / Used from: $1.30 One of my favorite books I read in my 19th Century Women's Lit class. It was a quick, fun, and inspiring read.
![]() | Voyage in the Dark (Norton Paperback Fiction) by Jean Rhys
Buy new: $11.16 / Used from: $2.46 I hated this book. The only reason I read the entire thing was because I had to read it for my Modern Lit class, but I never got into it and the plot line wasn't interesting to me at all.
![]() | The Art Lover: A Novel (New Directions Classics) by Carole Maso
Buy new: $11.96 / Used from: $4.87 This book was very, very confusing and made me say "WTF" more than a few times, but we had fun in class dissecting the novel and trying to figure out what exactly Maso was experimenting with.
![]() | Slaughterhouse-Five: A Novel by Kurt Vonnegut
Buy new: $10.20 / Used from: $4.20 I read this for the second time for my Modern Lit class and I really just didn't enjoy the book. The satire is decent, but for all the hype this novel gets, I guess I just don't "get" it.
![]() | The Hidden Hand or, Capitola the Madcap (American Women Writers Series) by E. D. E. N. Southworth
Buy new: $22.14 / Used from: $5.20 I also read this novel for my 19th Century Women's Lit class. It was SOOO entertaining and almsot entirely written based on plot alone which was different having a nice easy read for a college class. My teacher picked excellent books for us to read.
![]() | The Human Stain: A Novel by Philip Roth
Buy new: $10.88 / Used from: $0.01 I liked this novel and I generally enjoy Roth's writing, but I think it was a little difficult to get into. The ending was interesting, but the beginning was kind of slow for me.
![]() | Little Women (Signet Classics) by Louisa May Alcott
Buy new: $3.95 / Used from: $1.58 One of my favorite classic novels that I've been reading since I was 8, but had to read again for my Women's Lit class.
![]() | The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood
Buy used from: $8.25 I read this book a few years ago for fun, but had to read it again this year for my Modern Lit class. I got a lot more out of it the second time around, but I enjoyed it both times through.
![]() | Erasure: A Novel by Percival Everett
Buy used from: $4.48 This book was EXCELLENT. I didn't think I was going to like this book based on the jacket description, but I thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing. Everett attacks the idea that African American's have to write "black" to be successful in the literary world.
![]() | Who Would Have Thought It? (Recovering the Us Hispanic Literary Heritage) by Maria Amparo Ruiz De Burton
Buy new: $11.01 / Used from: $0.82 I hated this book. It was hard to get into the plot and it was hard to follow the plot as well.
![]() | The Walking Tour by Kathryn Davis
Buy new: $7.32 / Used from: $3.75 This makes it on my "I hate this book with a passion" list. I just didn't follow Davis' writing style and the whole thing seemed very schizophrenic and nothing seemed to tie in together at the end of the novel. And the ending was a huge let down.
![]() | Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
Buy new: $9.17 / Used from: $6.49 I read this book in just a few hours and I adored it. While the plot was very... weird, for lack of a better word, the novel on a whole is a good read and really makes you think about the repurcussions of things that you say/do to others.
![]() | fettered for life by blake
Buy new: $22.95 / Used from: $17.49 Another book I enjoyed from my Women's Lit class. By the end of the class, all the books seemed to be about the same thing, women's suffrage, but I liked this book.
![]() | Pattern Recognition by William Gibson
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.01 I really enjoyed this book, but the whole "mystery" part at the end was kind of lame.
![]() | City of Glass: The Graphic Novel by Paul Auster
Buy new: $10.08 / Used from: $5.48 LOVE. It made me want to read the New York Trilogy that it's based on.
![]() | Zeroville by Steve Erickson
Buy new: $10.17 / Used from: $3.19 My favorite book that I had to read for my Fiction class. It read like I was watching it play out on film and remained interesting throughout the book. I don't usually watch old films, so I got a little confused with all of the references, but it was cool trying to figure out what movie Erickson was referring to in each part of the book and how the Manson murders locked the book in time.
![]() | Of One Blood: Or, the Hidden Self: The Givens Collection Classics by Pauline Hopkins
Buy new: $11.70 / Used from: $7.23 This book was definitely weird, but interesting. I read it for my Women's Lit class and it was a nice change of pace from reading solely about women and how they couldn't find jobs.

![]() | The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair that Changed America by Erik Larson
Buy new: $10.20 / Used from: $1.98 Definitely the best non-fiction book I've ever read. It read like I was reading a murder mystery and it's filled with so many interesting facts. I loved it.
![]() | Pay It Forward by Catherine Ryan Hyde
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.01 I can't believe I never read this book before. It's so good and the twist at the end definitely had me crying.
![]() | Franny and Zooey by J.D. Salinger
Buy new: $11.19 / Used from: $3.54 Not exactly "Catcher in the Rye." I didn't really get into this book.
![]() | The Grapes of Wrath (Centennial Edition) by John Steinbeck
Buy new: $11.05 / Used from: $3.74 One of my favorite books, I decided to read it again this year, especially with our economy being in the ish-hole.
![]() | Why Him? Why Her?: Finding Real Love By Understanding Your Personality Type by Helen Fisher
Buy new: $16.50 / Used from: $9.87 I'm a Psychology majoy... what can I say? But it was actually kind of interesting and somewhat accurate I thought.
![]() | Miss Lonelyhearts by Nathanael West
Not my favorite. I didn't really understand the book that well... I honestly kept wanting the newspaper columnist to be like "Marley and Me" and it just didn't compare... haha.
![]() | The New York Trilogy: City of Glass; Ghosts; The Locked Room [NEW YORK TRILOGY]
Buy used from: $17.87 I now love Paul Auster. All three of the novels were written as separate mysteries, and I definitely wasn't expecting the twist at the end.
