Spaghetti Westerns to Enjoy on DVD

The Great SilenceThe Great Silence
Buy new: $17.49 / Used from: $10.97
I really think it’s one of the best spaghetti westerns from my favorite director Sergio Corbucci. Corbucci hated movies with happy endings & this is his anti-hero movie with an anti-hero ending. The ending was so shocking that the film producers forced Corbucci to film an alternate “happy” ending which is included in this DVD, but it isn’t quite effective as the original ending.
The Good, the Bad & the Ugly (2-Disc Collector's Edition)The Good, the Bad & the Ugly (2-Disc Collector's Edition)
Buy new: $16.49 / Used from: $6.59
Sergio Leone’s all time classic that recognized for it’s cinematic style of wide action shots, extreme close-ups & one of the best music soundtracks ever for any western. However it’s the performances of Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cliff & Eli Wallach that makes this a true classic.
Django/Django Strikes AgainDjango/Django Strikes Again
Buy used from: $13.74
One of Italy’s most successful westerns ever because internationally, it produced over 50 sequels! “Strikes Again” is the only authorized sequel. In “Django” watch for Franco Nero’s opening scene when he drags a coffin across the desert & into town. Wait till you see what's inside! Also look for the ear cutting scene in “Django” that Quentin Tarentino used later in “Reservoir Dogs”.

This is one of the greatest spaghetti western DVD sets available (5 movies). The two gems in this set are “Bullet for the General” & “Companeros”. “Bullet for the General” follows Klaus Kinski as an assassin joining a renegade gang so he can get close to a Mexican General & kill him. “Companeros” features popular Italian actors Robert Nero and Tomas Milian.
Once Upon a Time in the WestOnce Upon a Time in the West

Another Sergio Leone Classic! Henry Fonda steals the show as he plays one of the meanest villains of his career! The strong cast also features Charles Bronson & the always sexy, Claudia Cardinale.
The Sabata Trilogy (Sabata / Adios, Sabata / Return of Sabata)The Sabata Trilogy (Sabata / Adios, Sabata / Return of Sabata)

The classic trilogy featuring Lee Van Cliff in parts 1 & 2 and Yul Brynner in part 3.
Trinity Twin Pack (They Call Me Trinity / Trinity is Still My Name)Trinity Twin Pack (They Call Me Trinity / Trinity is Still My Name)
Buy new: $23.99 / Used from: $21.96
Contains “They Call Me Trinity” & “Trinity is Still My Name”. Classic western comedies with some action featuring Terence Hill & Bud Spencer. Great widescreen transfers on both DVD’s from Hen’s Tooth. Great opening scene of Terrance Hill riding across the country with a wood/cloth stretcher being pulled by his horse while he sleeps. Simply hilarious!
Run, Man, Run!Run, Man, Run!

Tomas Milian stars in this great spaghetti western action/comedy about a man who always gets caught in the wrong place at the wrong time.
For A Few Dollars MoreFor A Few Dollars More
Buy new: $11.99 / Used from: $2.25
The second best film in the "Man with no Name" trilogy. Lee Van Cliff is the main star in this film and Clint Eastwood plays second fiddle. Lee and Clint actually band together as allies & have a friendly competition between them. Some comedic moments including Clint Eastwood taking inventory of his dead bounties while gunning down the last man when he realizes his count is off. Hilarious!
Mannaja - A Man Called BladeMannaja - A Man Called Blade
Buy new: $13.49 / Used from: $6.98
A great spaghetti western featuring Maurizo Merli as a mean knife thrower with an attitude.
Django Kill - If You Live, Shoot!Django Kill - If You Live, Shoot!
Buy new: $13.49 / Used from: $7.95
Not really a "Django" movie, but it features Tomis Milian as a half-breed bandit who is betrayed & left for dead. He returns for revenge & ends up in a town called "The Unhappy Place". One of the strangest westerns you'll ever see.
Today We Kill Tomorrow We DieToday We Kill Tomorrow We Die

One of the best names for a western movie! Montgomery Ford is released from prison for a crime he didn't commit. He raises a gang in pursuit of the bandit who set him up.
