Sky King (Kirby Grant) was my favorite 50s TV western Saturday morning show. There are 4 B&W episodes on this DVD. Hopefully there will be more to come.

Again, I'm not going to list every volume of this series (Eleven, plus a feature film, are available) but they are all just super entries. Ramar is a "Jungle Jim" type that's always fixing jungle problems, usually by eliminating some rotten bad guy.

I think that this is the absolute best Lone Ranger movie ever. The locations are incredible and it's shot in color. Of course, The Lone Ranger and Tonto save the day, but only after they have to endure and deal with a bunch of trouble-making scoundrels.

This is the copy that you want because it's the only version in letterbox format -- most of the others are "panned and scanned" for TV -- plus you get a great second Vincent Price film. Forget the remake of this one -- this original is one of the greatest horror films of all time! My personal favorite.

What a lineup of superstars in a great WW II film! Frank Sinatra, Charles Bronson, Gina Lollobrigida, Steve McQueen, Peter Lawford, Dean Jones and many more. The filmscore is incredible (Hugo Friedhofer) -- and tons of (studio) green shiny plants. Great color and shot in letterbox.

I had not seen this one until it came out on DVD. It's shot in "Cinecolor" which looks like a "two-strip" process, but it adds a lot to the overall ambiance. This is sort of a King Kong rip-off with no central monster. This is a fine film which should have been running a lot on TV but never did.

This is the print that you want -- crystal clear. And, this is the film that kicked off the Basil Rathbone series and is truly a fine rendition of Conan Doyle's siganature tale.

The Humphrey Bogart film you never saw! Here we have a great B&W film with an all-star cast, including Peter Lorre. It's a search for lost treasure with assorted scoundrels, all fighting to get there first. There are some rather strange camera angles but I think it's because it's basically a foreign film, clearly shot on location.

A Republic serial with 15 chapters, 269 minutes total of pure mystery and intrigue. It's B&W, shot in 1940 and it's truly a "cliffhanger". I love it.

The Ken Maynard serial in 12 chapters that wasn't shown a great deal after it's initial release. There simply are not enough of the old "Western Mysteries".

The second (conclusion) of The Phantom Empire serial. Both DVDs total 244 minutes. Watch for other edited versions!

My favorite John Wayne film. Bulging with stars, a super location, incredible color, a great filmscore (Henry Mancini), and much more. This great flick is chock-full of atmosphere. One of my top 10.

Super Biblical epic starring Gregory Peck and Susan Hayward. Color, but unfortunately not in letterbox. From Twentieth Century Fox, this is a very well-done film, produced by Darryl F. Zanuck.

Starring William "Stage" Boyd and George "Gabby" Hayes. Do-gooders trek into the dark jungle to unhinge a mad doctor who's about to destroy the world with his crazy machines. Plenty of actions and great locations. Lots of fights in caves.

Bill Campbell once told me that only he and Patrick Magee got paid on this film, they made it so cheap. It's a truly great Roger Corman/Francis Ford Cuppola co-op film, shot in B&W. Weird family members meet at creepy Castle Haloran (the homeplace) to carry out an ancestral rite and gruesome murder follows. One of the best!

Peter Lorre represents the pinnacle of suspense and intrigue in film. As Mr. Moto, Japanese International Detective, he was at his best. This is a fine B&W film. They're all trying to kill Mr. Moto!

The sprawling epic of all time, on 2 DVDs in one set. Shot in Color, letterbox, this saga of conflict in Egypt and Rome is well-told and the combo of Elizabeth Taylor, Rex Harrison and Richard Burton made this film the Numer One Film of all-time for me. It was the most expensive movie ever made.

Get this print of this fine film. It's my second favorite in the Basil Rathbone series of Sherlock Holmes films. A valuable diamond is stolen on an overnight London to Scotland train and murder swiftly follows!

Watson (Nigel Bruce) comes through to save Holmes (Basil Rathbone) in this fine series entry. The action takes place on a ship and there are plenty of shifty characters and murder. This excellent mystery film doesn't see much air time for some sad reason.

This is the top entry in the Sidney Toler Charlie Chan series of films. Creepy house, stolen secret formula, shady characters, buffoon of a sheriff, Charlie's goofy son, The Great Mantan Moreland providing comedic moments, and MURDER. Charlie solves it all. B&W, 66 minutes of sheer pleasure.
