An excellent Peck western. He's at his best as a strong, sensitive loner. This suspenseful drama has excellent location shots, interesting supporting characters and a face-paced plot. It's weak in the casting of the boy, however. Does not make four stars due to stereotypic portrayl of Native Americans.

A Wayne classic, in my opinion. He and Dean Martin are great fun to watch together. There are nice comedic turns in an otherwise suspenseful and sentimental plot line. Good soundtrack, too.

Arguably the best western ever made. I love the moodiness of the movie, the flawed lead characters, the scenery, and the untold love story between Ethan (Wayne) and his brother's wife.

A classic in it's uniqueness. Especially of it's time. John Ford changed the way westerns were made with this movie. An excellent ensemble of characters.

One of Peck's favorite performances. He dons a mustache and portrays a retiring gun-for-hire that is nursing regrets. Excellent cast. Smart direction. Moving story line.

An all time favorite for me. I enjoy nearly every character in this movie, so most of the scenes are very good. Where Hawks (director) is weak is in the dialogue department, especially with women. This is a recurring issue in his movies, in my opinion.
