Quality reggae from Bunny! Blackheart Man is another classic but this one's my personal fave.

Wild Suspense is another among their best albums, top notch stuff from Pipe and Bread

This is a sweet cd from the mentor of Bob Marley and the Wailers, backed by Familyman, Junior Marvin and Tyrone Downie of the Wailers!

I like this compilation, also the Ultimate Collection on Rhino is a good choice. Dennis Brown was reggae's greatest vocalist! Smooth but still mostly roots

This is can't miss roots from a group that has overcome hardships! It is hard not to like IV and they have consistantly put out quality reggae. Respect to Apple, Skelly and Wiss!

The Itals never got as big as they should have. These guys are great and they consistantly put out serious roots! Essential

Great Box Set! As the title says "Essential" this is a nice cornerstone to any roots reggae collection, True dat!

Another Lee Perry production and another classic! Swirling roots and effects with Murvin's falsetto like voice,...hmmmm if you liked Heart of the Congos then get this!

This IS roots reggae! The title track is a reggae anthem and it is way good throughout. The harmonies of Bernard Collins and Donald and Lynford Manning are a joyous sound.

Peter Broggs has always put out conscious roots reggae and is another who should have been more well known. This compilation is so enjoyable just listen to the title track and feel irie! Rejoice indeed!

Very good debut lp from this British outfit who would release another couple good lp's ( Hulet and New Chapter) before venturing out of "roots" to a more pop oriented crossover sound.

Decent compilation featuring lesser known acts such as the Silvertones, the Jay Boys and Johnny Clarke. Good, not great roots music here.

Nice 2 cd set featuring the golden years of Black Uhuru with the Michael Rose, Puma Jones and Duckie Simpson lineup. With the help of Sly and Robbie, Black Uhuru sort of transformed roots to a more upbeat dancing type of groove that doesn't resonate with all roots reggae fans but they certainly deserve a place on my list.

Just another outstanding release from Culture that has many similarities to the best Burning Spear efforts,...chanting, hypnotic with conscious lyrics and exceptional backing musicians,...a gem!
