A high watermark for classic sci-fi. Beautiful special effects, great story, and one of the genre's best soundtracks.

Great drama and dialog. Even though the alien isn't all that impressive it still manages to be one of the best.

Even though their primative by today's standards, the ants are very well done. This film has a great attention to detail.

The Conan Doyle story has gotten a few adaptations over time. The original, silent version has some very un-p.c. stuff in it, but great special effects for the day.
