Sinatra's best role, though not Oscar-nominated. His scenes with Ethel Barrymore are especially memorable. Not sure it's really a musical, though some call it one.But I'll take the excuse to recommend my fave Sinatra movie.

I recently added this to this list. I only realized later that this movie, though animated, is also a musical. Not only can I tolerate it, but it made my List of GREAT SCREEN ROMANCES(See my Listmania)

Most of the Marx Brothers movies are musicals, usually enjoyable despite that, not because of it (unless the song is performed by Groucho).

Roy Rogers was a terrific musical performer, more easily appreciated by watching his movies than listening to CDs. In fact, the music was often the best part of his films, which were pretty much aimed at kids really, B movies at best, except for a few. He had a cool manner onscreen, though. Still one of my few heroes, for his onscreen persona, music, his personal life and faith.

Another enjoyable animated feature that is also somewhat of a musical. The first animated feature film, if I recall correctly.
Walk the Line (Widescreen Edition)Walk the Line (Widescreen Edition)
Buy new: $20.99 / Used from: $1.11
I know, it's not REALLY a musical. The characters don't sing except when it's a scripted on-stage performance. It's an interesting film but I was disappointed because it only covered up to the early 70's and because the role of Christ in Cash's character development was only superficially portrayed.
