Buy new: $22.49 / Used from: $21.03
The whole boxed set is pretty good (except for Knives of the Avenger), but Black Sabbath is the one that makes this list. It is one of the best horror anthologies I've seen, with three tales that get increasingly creepier.
Tales From the Crypt / Vault of Horror (Double Feature)Tales From the Crypt / Vault of Horror (Double Feature)
Buy new: $14.49 / Used from: $3.90
Based on the EC comics, these movies are a bit hit-and-miss. Generally, each story is a little morality play in which murderers and other crooks get their just desserts. An Amicus double feature.
Torture GardenTorture Garden
Buy new: $9.95 / Used from: $2.59
One of the Amicus horror anthologies, this one is framed by a circus sideshow where Burgess Meredith reveals to his customers possible futures.
The House That Dripped BloodThe House That Dripped Blood
Buy used from: $11.96
Another Amicus horror collection, this one dealing with a house with a rather bad history.
The AsylumThe Asylum
Buy new: $17.99 / Used from: $7.95
The new psychologist at an asylum is challenged to find the old chief doctor among the patients. How the residents wound up locked away provides the tales. Another Amicus production.
From Beyond the GraveFrom Beyond the Grave
Buy new: $13.49 / Used from: $8.95
Yet another Amicus anthology, this time focusing on one of those eerie little shops that only exist in horror movies. Peter Cushing is the proprietor selling curios with strange histories.
The Monster ClubThe Monster Club
Buy new: $13.49 / Used from: $7.56
John Carradine is escorted by a vampiric Vincent Price to the title club, where fake monsters dance to bad music. The stories Price tells are of erratic value, but the DVD commentary has a Mystery Science Theater-like quality that compensates for the movie's deficiencies.
