Editorial Reviews
From the Manufacturer
Award-winning chef-restaurateur Tom Douglas, Pinzon, and Amazon.com introduce a line of multi-functional products that will inspire home chefs and build confidence in the kitchen. This sleek magnetic knife holder keeps cutlery and gadgets within reach above a busy prep station but still safely out of reach of little hands. The 20-inch strip is long enough to hold an entire collection of kitchen knives, including odd-sized cutlery such as oyster knives that won’t fit in a block. It measures 3/4-inch deep by 2 inches wide for supporting wider blades, such as cleavers. Constructed of a natural compressed wood-fiber laminate made from sustainable harvested trees, the holder uses powerful hidden magnets to hold knives securely to the faceplate. The unique dovetailed back bracket fastens easily to a wall, and a built-in level helps to align and install properly (screws included). An attractive, slate-colored faceplate slides on to cover the back brackets and magnets, yet it can be removed and washed in the dishwasher. This holder features the Tom Douglas logo.

Customer Reviews
Great knife holder
I had a problem storing all of my knives. I could not find a block that had enough slots to hold all of them and an in-drawer knife block did not work for me because, occasionally, a knife would shift inside, and I could not open the drawer. Therefore, I decided to look for a magnetic knife holder.
This Epicurean 20-Inch magnetic knife holder is long enough to hold all eight of my KAI knives. The surface is soft and will not scratch blades, magnets are strong but taking a knife off the holder is not difficult. The holder consists of two parts: one mounts to the wall and houses a small bubble level to ensure leveled installation and magnets; another part slides on top and serves as the surface that holds knives.
The installation was quite easy; however, a couple of issues turned a 10-minute job into a 30-minute one:
1. The mounting hardware was attached to the back of the back plate by sticky clear plastic similar to packaging tape. When I tried to remove it, the plastic was breaking into pieces and left glue residue.
2. There was a white sticker attached to the top plate indicating the direction in which to slide the top plate to remove it and to re-attach. This was one of those frustrating paper stickers that break into pieces when you remove them and leave glue residue behind.
I was going to take away one star because of these two issues, but, in all honesty, the holder is well made and solved my knife storage problem just fine. I would recommend this holder to anyone looking for a magnetic knife holder.
Excellent
I was looking for a magnetic knife holder that wouldn't damage my knives. I know that with a normal magnetic bar, you have to roll the knife away from the magnet so the blade doesn't nick the magnet. But, I'm not always careful. The Epicurean knife holder fit the bill but the expense was extreme: $75 for the 20". This is really the same product but with the Tom Douglas logo, and at $45 I can't see any reason for the upgrade in price to the non-logo version.
The logo is really innocuous and blends in with the slate gray board. The color of the board is perfect: modern and subtle. This is the best way to quickly access my knives without worry about damaging them.
