Editorial Reviews
From the Manufacturer
Award-winning chef-restaurateur Tom Douglas, Epicurean, and Amazon.com introduce a line of multi-functional cutting boards that will inspire home chefs and build confidence in the kitchen. This 9-by-11-inch cutting board is constructed of a natural compressed wood-fiber laminate made from sustainable harvested trees. The multi-functional surface won't dull knives; is heat-resistant to 350 degrees F, which means hot pans can be placed on it without leaving a brown ring; requires no oiling; and is dishwasher-safe and approved by the National Safety Foundation (NSF). Both the top and bottom surfaces may be used for cutting meat, chopping onions, slicing bread, and more. The natural finish will darken with use. Rounded silicone edges prevent the board from slipping. This versatile board features the Tom Douglas logo and doubles as an attractive serving tray for cheeses, appetizers, and pizza. This item is manufactured in the USA.

Perfect!
First, let me admit it. I love cutting boards. That is, I love good ones. I almost always have one on the counter, at the ready. If I am doing serious cooking I have two, one for meat and one for vegies. I do not like boards that are too big, They are awkward, hard to clean and harder to store.
This came about three days ago. Since that time, I have put it through some testing. I have sliced, diced and chopped on it. I have washed it, run it through the dishwasher and set a hot pot on it. The knife does leave some marks on the board. That does not affect its performance at all. It passed with a rainbow of flying colors.
This board does not slip or slide whether the surface is wet or dry. The tomatoes did not stain it. The jalapenos did not leave an odor. I used it side by side with my other favorite cutting board, a polypropylene one with grips that has been a favorite of mine. This one stood up to that test too. I liked it just as much. It has the added benefit of being environmentally-friendly, so seriously, what's not to like?
Tom Douglas Epicurean Silicone-Tipped Cutting Board
Tom Douglas Epicurean Cutting Board is truly one of the best. What makes it better than most is, not only its [environmentally-friendly] manufacturing from sustainable harvested trees, but its practical ability to be duly used as a serving tray.
We entertain with both hot and cold entrees, and this board is amazingly heat-resistant to 350 degrees. Although we've been skeptical about its claim of resistance to knife-dulling, we have yet to experience such results. The fact that this cutting board is dishwasher-safe makes it highly desirable; plus, the silicone edges also work as promised to avoid movement during use.
Overall, this board is highly recommended.
A winner for knife wielding cooks!
This cutting board was designed by a cook and one who knows about kitchen products. I have always had problems with cutting boards either too thin, dulling good knives, slipping or just too hard to keep clean. This board thoughtfully solves most of these everyday problems. It does not slip! Why did we have to wait so long for someone to come up with a solution. It can go in the dishwasher---how great is that after cutting chicken or fish? We have good Henkels cutlery and have seen no dulling using this board. It is slightly raised off the counter by the rubber feet which makes it great for placing hot containers of food on the table, we have a glass top dining set and this helps with serving hot dishes. Have wood boards, and some that are made of a glass like product, none of which can compare with the functionality of this one. Such a simple thing, just makes me wonder why something like this has not been available before now, or at least not to my knowledge. This is a winner and I would recommend it to anyone who spends anytime in the kitchen with a knife.....If you purchase one I hope you are as satisfied as I. Definitely a five star product.
