From Booklist
PreS-K. One of the more charming new books of the holiday season, this reintroduces the jolly snowmen (and women) from Snowmen at Night (2002). This time they are enjoying the Christmas season, venturing out during the moonlit night (while children sleep) to gather in the town square. It's not what happens here (primarily a visit from a snow Santa and some carols 'round a tree) but the rich art that makes this special. As in the previous book, Buehner does magical things with light in his paintings. From the cover, where snow people frolic in the moody blues of evening to the scene of a city street where holiday lights cast a mellow glow to the quiet picture of a lightening morning sky, children will be enchanted by the hues of the acrylic artwork. The text is sprightly with a to-the-point rhyme scheme that only occasionally verges on singsong. Little ones, especially, will enjoy the celebration as the snow people relish their special night. What Fun!! - a review of "Snowmen at Christmas"5
Ever wake up and find that your snow-person looks different than you left them? Maybe a little slumped to one side or missing a nose. Well, Caralyn and Mark Buehner are here to tell you what they have been up to.

In this book, they are celebrating the season! They are escaping with their friends and family to frolic in the town square. The rich drawings show us that the snow-kids are staring at the toys in the store windows, and at the twinkling lights; while the adults are decorating a tree, preparing treats for a party and so on.

Kris Kringle shows up and then,

"While the fiddler plays,
And sweet silver bells ring,
They sing songs about snow,
And the birth of a King.

Five Stars. Sweet fun with wonderful, warm pictures. A great read-aloud that my children certainly appreciate. A wonderful addition to the home library.

Unwatched snowmen antics5
The Buehner snowmen inhabit a twilight zone some where that humans stay in after sunset and do not even peek out the window until sunrise, leaving our frozen friends free to pull their action-packed, gleeful shenanagans the whole night through before sliding back to their approximate original positions somewhat worse for the wear. A sequel to "Snowmen at Night," this title celebrates the yuletide festivities with deorations, a flying snow Santa and reindeer and even snow gifts. Both, with rhyming text and colorful action paintings said to be oil over acrylic, will be enjoyed by the picture book crowd. Yes, you can search out the hidden pictures on each page, if you wish... A good choice for personal, school, and public libraries.
