Review
NANCY CAPULET has written a practical book about how to find a mate on the net, using singles ads and services like Matchmaker (which has a London site) and Swoon. She succeeded in that - the book says she's going to marry David - and could well flog a few books via her Web site at www.HeartsOnline.com. (The Guardian (U.K.), July 30, 1998).
A gold mine for every single who is serious about finding love. Beautifully organized, thorough, and written with a delightful light touch, this book answers every question you might have about looking for love online. (Susan Page, author, _If I'm So Wonderful, Why Am I Still Single?_)
A must-read for singles who are searching the Internet for meaningful, romantic relationships. (Trish McDermott, Match.Com Dating Advice Columnist)
The first thorough review of the online dating scene. -- Stan B. Yunker, Matchmaker Worldwide Networks, Inc.

From Chapter 5: Add color, imagination, and pizzazz. Show your passions. Describe the feeling you get when you ski down a mountain or meditate. Instead of just listing your desirable traits, such as intelligence or a sense of humor, use them. In this ad, Elaine describes herself as a car:
Headline: Little Red Triumph Spitfire in Need of Maintenance!
Are you good with your hands? I hope so, because I'm a little Spitfire who needs a good mechanic. I'm a little slow starting in the morning, but once I get my motor running .... All right, I have a couple of rust spots, but I'm still maneuverable and a lot of fun. Applications for mechanic and driver eagerly awaited!
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Body Type: Average (trim, nice headlights)
Height: 5 ft., 2 in.
Elaine was bombarded with responses after placing this ad. One guy volunteered "to put her up on a rack and check her out."
Customer Reviews
This book is well worth buying!
This book is designed for anyone who may be interested in checking out the now considerable opportunities to meet someone by placing a personal ad online, with any of the numerous companies that offer such a service.
The book makes clear that you need very few computer skills -- little more than the ability to browse the Web -- to make use of such services.
This book makes no assumption that you have any experience with online personal ads, and quickly leads the beginner through the necessary basics. But as someone who's been playing with online personal ads for over two years, I still found this book chock full of extremely valuable advice.
The author seems to have thought of every possible aspect of this endeavor, and draws liberally from her own experience as well as that of others in offering many examples of things that worked, and things that didn't.
Her writing is crystal-clear, friendly, and amazingly thorough in covering her subject.
The book contains a plethora of information in the appendices regarding the differences among different online matching services.
The book also contains an enormous amount of good practical advice that is applicable to any kind of dating at all (on- or off-line), even valuable to the experienced dater.
If I were coerced to find one fault with the book, it would be the very minor carp that the book is perhaps unnecessarily devoid of nonsense. It might be a bit more fun were it infused with some more whimsy.
But in any case I highly recommend this book to anyone who may be remotely considering the fascinating endeavor of putting his or her heart online.
Great Look at Searching for Love Online
This book is a guide to searching for that "special someone" using the Internet. Not only does Nancy explain to "techno novices" how to use the 'Net (for example, email etiquette and a handful of appendices explaining the Internet and Internet terms), but also what to look for and what to watch out for in a prospective partner.
For men, it explains how to increase your odds of getting responses by being creative with your ad. It also discusses what not to say in your ad..very valuable information!
I loved some of the examples given of creative and succesful ads shown in the book. There's lots of good advice in this book and I intend to use it the next time I run an ad online.
Entertaining and informative even for the experienced
I wish I'd read this book a year ago. This book gave me confidence to try online dating (again). I enjoyed reading the many personal anecdotes and laughed at the author's sly humor. I put into practice some of the author's ideas to improve my online profile. The number and quality of responses greatly improved. Finally, I would recommend this book to those in hi-tech professions who would especially appreciate this organized and analytical approach to the normally chaotic dating process.
