When I first brought my 3-year-old cat home from the animal shelter, I immediately put Advantage on her. Within about 3 hours, she was on the floor in convulsions and nearly dead. Though I hardly knew her yet, I felt terrible, and raced her to the emergency vet (not cheap at 10 pm!). She had to have an IV drip for 2 days to clear the Advantage out of her system, and I was told the Advantage was far too strong for her. I've been using Frontline ever since, and she's remained healthy and happy and flea-less. And since it just went up to $47 for 3 applications at the local pet store, I too Love the ability to get it on Amazon!

Frontline Kills Fleas and Prevents Reinfestation
FRONTLINE Plus is the only thing I buy to kill fleas and ticks on my dogs and cats because it works better than any other product I've tried out there, including Advantage.

Frontline Plus kills fleas faster than Advantage, usually within 18 hours vs. 24 hours. Also, it's waterproof capabilities are a little better.

But the major difference is that Advantage is only a flea control product. But Frontline Plus also prevents and kills ticks, which I don't want to take chances with. Even one tick on your pet can cause problems and even serious illness for them or you.

Another reviewer here claims that Frontline only controls fleas and doesn't kill them. He says he found this information on their website. That's a lie. I just looked at their website today and it clearly states "FRONTLINE Plus killed 100% of fleas within 12 hours of application." Furthermore, it's "Long lasting: continues to kill fleas and ticks all month long."

Here are the facts: The active ingredient in Frontline Plus (fipronil) kills fleas and larvae, which completely breaks the life cycle. Yes, it might take a month or two of applications if you have a nasty infestation, or if your pet's environment is overrun, but that's true of any flea product. It takes a while to work because the only fleas out there aren't just on your pet's body. They are on the bedding. They are on the ground. They are in places where your pet walks. They are on other untreated animals.

We have 6 cats at home and 3 of them sleep in the chicken coop where there was a greater flea infestation. For those 3 cats, it took a few months of Frontline to eliminate the problem. For our other 3 that stay close to the house, it took less than a month, only 1 application. We haven't seen a single flea on them since, and we live out in the country.

I'd say that's pretty effective!

Superior Product
Frontline Plus is a superior product. I used to use a different, very popular product until I found out that it didn't protect against ticks, just fleas. Frontline Plus protects from both fleas and ticks. I feel more comfortable letting my cats roam around our backyard with Frontline Plus since our backyard borders a creek bed and golf course. When I was using the other product one of my cats managed to get a tick on her. Since I switched to Frontline Plus several years ago, there have been no more ticks on my cats. I can't say enough positive things about this superior product.
