From the Manufacturer
The Frye Company is the oldest continuously operated shoe company in the United States. Founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a well-to-do shoemaker from England, and family-run until 1945, Frye products have a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by soldiers on both sides of America's Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-American war, and by Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. When home-steading drew adventurous New England families to the West during the mid and late 1800's many of the pioneers wore Frye Boots for the long journey. Today Frye remains true to its roots with its line of heritage boots, but continues to innovate as it introduces chic new handbags, pumps, and sandals to its collection.
Customer Reviews
Looks like a boot!
I bought this in the tan, sort of a weathered light brown. Very cool looking. I wear an 11, have a fairly wide foot, and a longer second toe, so I need the width and length in closed toe shoes. I ordered the 11, but now I think I could have probably gotten away with the 10. I think this model of Frye shoe may run a bit big, so you may want to consider a smaller size if you are in the middle. It's very comfortable, and will stretch. I wear them barefoot even in the winter, but I'm in southern california. With jeans they look like full boots. If you want, you can use the back strap around the back of your ankle for more support, but I just push it down around the top of the leather heel. After wearing them all day at work, though, it's nice to take them off. They can begin to feel hard on the sole of the foot after the whole day. I love anything from Frye. They are well made, will last forever and are always in style.
Perfect from the first step!
Right out of the box these shoes were perfect!
I loved the look of the shoe and knowing they were Frye's, decided to endulge myself. I hesitated to wear them at first because I thought I'd need to break them in. However, the first time I did I wore them for at least 11 hours straight and my feet felt great!
I would say the sizing is accurate. I usually take a 7.5 but sometimes need to push to an 8. I ordered 7.5 in the Fryes and they feel like they were custom fit for me.
Comfortable, good-looking clogs
Fit true to size and width. Comfortable for everyday activities, although I wouldn't recommend walking miles! Look good with jeans.
