Powered by a 500-watt motor, this classic blender blends margaritas and smoothies, mixes soups and sauces, chops fruits and vegetables, grinds coffee beans and nuts, grates cheese and coconut, and crushes ice. The blender has a high speed and a low-speed pulse control, which can be held down for continuous action. Its 40-ounce, ribbed-and-tapered glass container fits onto Oster's distinctive beehive-shaped base, which is clad in lustrous chrome and outfitted with slip-proof rubber feet. Its stainless-steel blade-assembly removes for cleaning, and the container is calibrated in both ounces and liters. Fully assembled, the blender stands 16 inches high on a 7-1/4-inch-diameter base. Beehive is the best
This blender exceeds my expectations. It blends smoothies extremely well, and the blender is easy to clean. I find it a useful tool to have along with my food processor and Vita-Mix.

Strong but messy
I bought this to replace my Braun blender, which died after a mere two years of use. Despite the outstanding reviews the Oster received, I would not recommend it. Yes, it is strong - too strong. If you put more than 1 cup of liquid in there, it goes all over the kitchen - and that is despite forcefully holding down the lid during the blending process. Blending a huge pot of soup one cup at a time is not fun.

On the other hand, it did an outstanding job with pesto - better than the Braun. On pulse, it does a nice job of sucking everything down into the blades. I don't have to constantly stop and stir.

Unfortunately, I make soup far more often than I make pesto. So while I will not be getting rid of this until it dies, I will be cleaning up my kitchen far more than I had anticipated.

Excellent blender
After about 25 years, it was necessary to replace my old Waring Blender. I read all the reviews, and decided on this blender by Oster. It is attractive, and does a great job. Follow the directions, and put your ice in last for smoothies, and all will go well. I also used it to blend soup I had made, and it did a great job with that as well.
