The Cars
Every Gran Turismo game throughout the years has been dedicated to providing players with a real racing experience, and Gran Turismo for PSP is no different. All about the cars and the tracks, Gran Turismo is packed with more than 800 real cars, from real manufacturers from around the globe. These cars come from every sector of the automotive industry; including everything from ultra fast performance cars, to slower classic cars from various eras. Every car in Gran Turismo is unlocked from the get-go and are waiting to be collected. With each race won much needed cash will be deposited in players accounts bring them that much closer each day to buying the specific rides that they will need to stock their garages.

Two Ways to Play in Single Player
Gran Turismo features two ways to play in the single player campaign. First is a quick race, an option in which players race against three AI opponents in standard races, time trials or drift challenges. The second race type are driver challenges, in which players complete for gold, silver, and bronze trophies in races that test the entire gamut of their driving skills. In all races every track is unlocked, but with each victory on a track the quality of a player's AI opponent rises.

Challenge Friends in Multiplayer
Gran Turismo features four-racer support in local wireless ad hoc multiplayer races. Within these competitions players have multiple options in races, including the choice of racing in the car of their choice, as well as handicap racing options in which players proven to be less skilled are given an automatic headstart, or those same racers given faster cars while the more skilled racers race a less advance model. Players are also able to trade vehicles in their garages over an ad hoc connection in swaps that once approved. Trades consist of an automatic swap of any car a friend does not already have and vice-versa.

Get a Headstart on Your GT5 Experience
Gran Turismo for PlayStation Portable features a surprising added bonus. Capitalizing on the built-in cross compatibility between the PSP and the PS3, Gran Turismo for PSP players will be able to get a headstart on their Grand Turismo 5 experience. Players will be able to transfer all the cars that they are able to stuff into their Gran Turismo garages directly into GT5 on day one.

Gets boring quickly due to lack of career mode and few competitors3
While I appreciate the fact that with this version of GT I have access to all the cars and tracks from the get-go, the lack of a career mode really makes the gameplay get tiring quickly. Plus, in each race you have only three other components, one of which is really dumb but none of which is difficult to beat. The city courses in particular feel less than satisfying due to limited scene rendering and short circuits. But overall, though, for gamers like me who like realistic driving on the go (when we're not driving a real car), this game is quite fun. I do hope the price gets lowered so more PSP gamers can enjoy it.

Depends on who you are...3
GT 4 on the PS2 was a game that any car lover would love, it had something for everyone. I have to say that for me, this is a very good game, cant say that its for everyone. The game doesn't really have a Career mode, it just has single player, multiplayer and challenges. Single player consists of three other options, drift trial, single race and time trial. Single races are a 4 car race (instead of 6 like in the console games). The drift trial is a blast and if you are into time trials, there's a little fun there too. The game is supposed to be focus on collecting cars, and there's only 4 manufacturers with 10 cars each per day. At first I thought this was gonna be really annoying, but for me its not. Days pass fairly fast, and you can earn money pretty easy, so you are bound to encounter many cars you'll like to collect at some point or another. In fact, I would say that the lineups are varied enough to have at least 2 cars you would want to buy. I do have o point out that because its not a Career mode, you will not be buying cars for a specific purpose, rather than just having them, since the single player modes doesn't require you to drive a specific car, you'll use whichever car you want (as opposed to previous GT games, where you were looking for cars to compete in specific races). There's another mode for which I couldn't care less, challenge mode, which are mini challenges, blah, blah, blah. Haven't got the opportunity to race any friends yet, but Ill bet its a blast. The game runs smoother than silk. The graphics are splendid for a handheld, in fact, I would say none of the screenshots I've seen makes it justice. There's an in-car cam too, though you don't really see anything inside the car, its rather a black silhouette of the car around you, and while it sounds kinda lame, I think it serves its purpose (remember, this is a handheld game). I think the video game sites that reviewed this game were expecting too much, ITS A HANDHELD, its doing enough by having such a huge lineup and great physics. I wouldn't recommend it for people that relied on the career mode on the past games to have fun. It works wonders for me since all I did in GT4 was look for cars to collect and do time trials (racing against your shadow, gotta love it!). If you don't find any fun in collecting cars, checking the dealerships every day to see what's new, and doing some single races to have money for tomorrows cars, then don't buy it, rent it first, but be aware that you'll be missing on the best racer to ever grace the PSP. Did I mention how much fun the drifting is?

Wait till it is $[...]2
There is no career mode in this game. It lacks structure. The only incentive to keep playing is to win one race at a time so that you can earn money to purchase more cars. There are limited tuning options, but car parts cannot be upgraded.

The graphics are good. However, I think all the tracks originated in other versions of Gran Turismo. Also, there are only four cars on the track during the race.

There is no internet multiplayer. If you want to play against another human being, you will need to have friends with PSPs.

In short, this game is not worth full price. If your a fan, you've waited four years for this game. Save some money and wait a little longer.
