(1958-1961) - Crime drama starring that cool and hip private eye Peter Gunn, as framed by Henry Mancini's jazzy scoring. 30 minutes of film-noirish bliss.

(1974-1975) - Greatly influencing future paranormal shows like the X-FILES, this one has Chicago crime reporter Carl Kolchak (Darren McGavin) pursuing stories and continually bumping into the supernatural. Get your creepy thrills, 1970's style.

(1975-1978) - Okay, this one might be a bit too creaky for today's audience. But, back in the day, this one firmly had my eyeballs. In the year 1999, the moon is blasted out of orbit. And the unprepared crew of the lunar colony Moonbase Alpha finds itself struggling for survival as the moon hurtles ever deeper into unknown space. Starred Martin Landau and Barbara Bain.

(1982-1983) - Tune in as Voyager Phineas Bogg, armed with a time-travelling gold watch, and his accidental partner, 12 year old Jeffrey Jones, journey thru time, averting temporal disasters in history. I was so sure this was gonna make a star of Jon-Erik Hexum, before his untimely passing.

(1993-1994) - Fun, tongue-in-cheek western. Bruce Campbell, a personal favorite of mine and yours, rode the saddle in the Old West and fought dastardly hombres, who were sometimes equipped with non-standard (okay, futuristic) gadgetry.

(1995-1996) - In the same vein as STARSHIP TROOPERS, this gritty sci-fi series focuses on a rookie squad of space marines, the Wildcards, as Earth fights back against mysterious aliens called the Chigs. Damn you, Fox, for cancelling this one!

(1998-2000) - Aaron Sorkin brought his vaunted storytelling talent to this backstage look at an ESPN's SportsCenter-type show. Great acting, Sorkin's words, ethical dilemmas, and sports - you'd think this one would've lasted longer.

(1999-2001) - Brooke is the most popular girl in school. Samantha is noncomforming and disliked by the popular clique. Brooke and Sam detest each other (but they're both cute). Then they find out their parents are marrying each other. Ah, teenage existence. So sad when this one ended.

(2000-2002) - This is the series that made Jessica Alba a star. Set in a near dystopian future, a genetically engineered girl named Max (Alba) bursts from the confines of a military installation and attempts to live out a life of freedom and choice. But the government will insist on playing silly buggers.

(2002-2004) - From the pen of Buffy scribe Joss Whedon, this one's a wild, rootin'-tootin' sci-fi western, made exceedingly watchable by Whedon's usual brand of wit, humor, and involving plots. Vivid cast, headed up by the straight-faced Nathan Fillion. Morena Baccarin heads my list as TV's hottest hottie. Gone too soon!

(2003-2005) - Props to Buffy for being the top dog Slayer, but sexy, rebellious Faith didn't exactly embarass herself. Eliza Dushku made an indelible mark in BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER and it paved the way to her own starring vehicle. For two seasons, Eliza played Tru Davies - a medical grad student forced to work at a morgue - who discovers the power to relive a day and thus change events.

(2004) - Inanimate objects suddenly begin talking to a rude and cranky (but cute) young woman clerking in a Niagara Falls curio shop. As directed by the objects, her acts of spontaneity lead to unexpected and sometimes quite wonderful results. Quirky and beguiling and showcasing the talented Caroline Dhaveras, WONDERFALLS never really had a chance.

(2006-2007) - Too high-falutin'? Not funny enough? Whatever. I loved this show and was fairly upset when it got canned. Best things about it: Matthew Perry and Bradley Whitford's amazing chemistry; the sexy, pious, scintillating Harriet Hayes as played by Sarah Paulson. And then there's Sorkin's writing. Did I mention Perry and Whitford's chemistry?

(1985) - VHS. Ok, this one was a short-lived addiction and would now be extremely dated. But, still...Dr. Billy Hayes assembles a group of superpowered folks - a fellow scientist who can shrink down to 7", a telekinetic teen, a guitar player who has electrical powers, and an Iceman - and off they go to fight crime and stuff. Featuring an early sighting of Courtney Cox.

(1979-1982) - Here's a bit of British weird. Energy entities take human form and venture into the inexplicable and go about preventing supernatural and sci-fi calamities. The f/x might come off as subpar nowadays but the involving and cerebral stories make up for the lack. Plus, David McCallum and Joanna Lumley are great.

(2005) - Yet another well written sci-fi show bites the dust, and this one had the gorgeous Carla Gugino in it, for Pete's sake! It turns out, there are contingency plans for first contact with E.T.s. Dr. Molly Anne Caffrey and her think tank staff are tapped to deal with an extraterrestrial space ship discovered in the Atlantic Ocean. Is it friend or foe?

(1978-1979) My time capsule television viewing of choice. After the TV movie came the series, which turned out to be pretty decent. Or is that just nostalgia talking? I remember an evil Spidey clone somewhere...This VHS collects the first 2 episodes ("Deadly Dust") only.

(2002-2003) This is the future and, in New Gotham, Batman has vanished. But he leaves behind a daughter, who now prowls around as the Huntress. Teaming with the crippled Oracle (formerly Batgirl) and clairvoyant newcomer Dinah Lance, these Birds of Prey hunt down Gotham's worst. I was SO bummed when this show got axed. An AWESOME series.
