This rare, incredibly beautiful viola is seldom offered. It emerges in early spring with masses of pink-tinged, variegated foliage and hundreds of purple flowers. Variegation slowly turns to green and white, then later to uniform dark green, and it is more intense the second season. Blooms from March to May. Incredible in rock gardens and borders, or potted. Should be offered by every greenhouse! Hardy perennial in zones 4-9. Grows 3-4" tall. Prefers shade or part-shade. Proper name: Viola mandschurica. Common name: Fuji Dawn Violet.
