Love-Lies-Bleeding Amaranth - pack Amaranthus caudatus 4-5 ft. Tender Annual/Reseeding Called "Flower Gentle" by Culpepper, this tall plant produces pinkish-red, draping plumes with distinctly beautiful, opalescent, tiny seed that is both ornamental and edible. Can be used as both a cut or dried flower. Sow directly, 8-10 seeds per foot when soil is warm and danger of frost has passed. For an earlier crop, can be planted in flats and transplanted at 4-8 inches tall when danger of frost has passed. For cut flowers, pick at peak of bloom. Leave heads on plants until they drop a few seeds or pick before first frost for eating. Dry for about a week until brittle.
