Proper Name: Stipa tenuissima We use this in our Texture Garden because of the denseness of its hairlike foliage and its wiry stems. Blooms from June to September in a tawny cloud. A fine textured clumping grass which occurs naturally from Texas to New Mexico south through Central America to Chile. This grass forms wispy tufts to 2 ft tall and as wide of bright green thread-like leaves. In mid-summer the soft plume-like flower spikes form, rising only slightly above the foilage.
