Gameplay
In Nintendogs Chihuahua & Friends owners purchase one of the six breeds available at the beginning of Nintendogs, then start spending time with their pups. They throw flying discs and balls to improve the pup’s agility, bathe it when it gets dirty and repeat voice commands to train the dog to do tricks. If owners train it well enough, they will excel in obedience and agility trials and disc competitions, which will earn money that they can use to buy other supplies and puppy breeds. When owners earn enough cash, they can buy even more puppies to live with their original pup.

Key Game Features

  • Visit the kennel and select a puppy from some of the most popular breeds, including Labs, Chihuahuas, dachshunds and more, then care for and train the puppy using the touch screen and microphone.
  • Pet the pup, acquire and play with more than 100 items like tennis balls, flying discs and even clothing accessories. Owners teach their dogs to do tricks by creating their own personalized voice commands.
  • Owners who train their pups well can compete in obedience and agility trials. They win these competitions to earn cash, which they can use to buy supplies and even more dogs to keep their first puppy company.
  • Owners can set the DS to Bark Mode, then take it with them as they head out into the real world. The DS will bark to let them know when another Nintendogs owner is in range and ready to meet.

Customer Reviews

The first pet simulator that really explores pet ownership5
First off, some of the reviews on this product is astonishing, this game's rating is being brought down because of senseless opinions, not on gameplay. This is a game, it has nothing to do with adopting homeless pets from the shelter, someone could say the same thing about the Sims. So if you played the Sims should you go out and adopt a homeless person or adopt a child? This game was created to bring joy to the person who plays it, I would even recommend it for anyone who is thinking about owning a pet, but don't want to get in over their heads. Some people are allergic to dogs, so this is a great way to "pretend". It is a very innovative and thoughtful game, I see that a lot of time and study of canine personality went into the development process. I think this game is wonderful and I hope to see more from this genre of games, you definitely will not be disappointed!

ACTUAL Review of a Nintendogs Owner.5
Oi! Tired of those "get ths gam., it rox" Reviews? Look no further. Hi, I am a Dog/Nintendog owner, just usin' the kiddie review system. I'll tell of the pros, cons, gameplay, graphics, and replay value of the game.

Pros:
Very good graphics-My Shetland Sheepdog looks like a real Sheltie pup!!

Contests- Disc,Obedience, and Agility!!

Own up to 8 dogs- 3 in the house, and 5 in the hotel centre.

Here's the kicker: All game breeds unlockable in EVERY version!!

Cons:
Teaching the pup her name/new tricks *can* be frustrating

Only 3 Contests may be entered daily.

Only 2 ways to make money, selling items via the Secondhand Shop, and Competition.

Graphics: Perfect 10/10- Crisp and Lifelike

SFX: 9/10- You can even hear the noise of city life outside the window!(cars, sirens, and barking)My only peeve is that there's no soft BG music. That's where it loses that point.:)

Gameplay: Perfect 10/10 It's good for a young'un who you think isn't ready for a dog. Heck, I'm 13, and I'm hooked!

Replay Value: 9/10 Yup. It's official. Sunday night: Let's watch college ball, Fred! -- Can't! Gotta feed Fido!

Average: 10/10

There ya go. Helpful? Thanks.

fun game, gets boring after a while.... by Alyssa T. (Virginia, USA)5
hi.
I've had this game for a few months now, and it's really great. The dogs are adorable, and I love playing fetch with it. The competitions are pretty cool, I don't like the announcers though. They're dumb and don't know what they're talkin' about. My best friend loves it too.
But, I think, after a few weeks of playing the game, it gets kinda boring. You do the same things over and over again. Don't get me wrong, I love the game, but I just think it gets boring after a while. Especially if you play it for 2 hours a day.
But, this game rocks, and if you don't find it boring, then that's fine with me. Just givin ya'll my opinion.
