Such a letdown1
I so wanted to love this game, I have waited for it for months. I loved the original CM, when I read previews of this one I had such high hopes. I got the game, played it, defeated it in two days, never once losing a round. I don't say that to toot my own horn but to say that this game is just way too easy. There is none of the challenge of the original game and it is dreadfully slow. The first "year" of the game is like the first month of the old game times twelve. It takes a really, really long time to pick up. You would think that with all of the new characters that there would be extra challenge in determining what makes everybody tick and keeping everyone happy, not so -- this group of characters are ridiculously patient. In the fourth year you should get a t.v., but they don't even care what channel it's on, and cupcakes were never needed. The added elements of different cake shapes, frostings, and toppers add little to the interest of the game. All of that would be forgivable if the "endless game" wasn't so badly designed -- you can't save your progress!?!? That means going back to ultra-slow round 1 every time you want to play! So once you've beaten the game, there is really no point to the game at all.

On the technical side, I think that the alignment of the stylus is bad. You have to be really specific about where you touch the toppers, I found that the bottom to bottom-left of the topper is the place to touch otherwise you either won't activate the topper or it will apply the topper from the opposite side of the decorating table.

The original is definitely better, if you haven't got that one yet -- get it and skip this one. If you just have to have the sequel, try finding it used.

On the plus side, if you have a little kid, all of my complaints are probably bonuses as little ones will probably find sufficient challenge with little chance of disappointment -- only boredom.

So simple, so fun!5
Isn't it amazing how the simplest games are the best? But in this game, the simplicity can be deceiving, as there is a *lot* of strategy involved from level to level when you decide what equipment to upgrade (or wait until after the next round and save up for something better...) The sequential thinking involved is enthralling, and a great way to enjoy downtime. I'm 36, but my 7 year old is going to enjoy this, too (if she can ever get me to stop playing it for a while!).

Big Disappointment 1
This was the biggest disappointment of a game I've ever played. I loved Cake Mania 1 and could not wait for Cake Mania 2 to come out. I finished the game in less than one day. The game was way to easy and absolutely no fun. I didn't even have to upgrade any equipment or buy any additional toppings to meet the monthly goal. I did buy the best oven and frosting machine along with the fast shoes simple because I got tired of the cooking time. I wish I could get my money back on this game.
