Some will completely disregard my list because this is at the top but hear me out first. I didn't just play this game, I lived it. For three days I didn't sleep. Level 99, all characters, mastered materia, over 90 hours. I explored every inch of this world. I've never been this obsessed about a game. And I've played and beaten it 3 more times since then. It's a masterpiece.

Chrono Trigger just brings back so many memories. I'm so sad to have seen it fall off with the mediocre "Chrono Cross" and drop into obscurity. Left to be remade over and over on hand held devices. This is not a fate deserving of such a wonderful game. Make no mistake. If you play RPGs, you HAVE to play Chrono Trigger. It's gaming nirvana.

This game is a legacy to action games. Period. Zelda games are consistently excellent and the Zelda series is arguably the most successful series in video games. Most will tell you this is the best one in the entire series. I'm telling you, this is easily one of the best video games ever made.

Buy new: $14.99 / Used from: $2.50 #4. METAL GEAR SOLID 3
Definitely the best of the entire series (and I'd never thought they could top the first one). You don't have to play the others to understand what's going on in this one. The gameplay is fun and intense, and the story is amazing. It probably has the best ending I've ever seen in a video game and the most memorable boss fight as well.

What can I say about Diablo II other than I probably spent more time with it than any other game on this list (since it never really ends). If video games were drugs, Diablo II would be the equivalent of crack.

"How can you think 2 was better than 4?!" . Sure, I played the hell out of Resident Evil 4, but Resident Evil 2? I loved it so much I had to unlock the gatling gun, and play it again and unlock the missile launcher, and play it again and unlock the Hunk mission. You don't understand. I COULD NOT PUT DOWN THIS GAME. It was that awesome.

Hands down the best single player FPS experience I've ever had. The story adds so much more weight to what you're doing. Multiplayer rocks too.

This was my favorite game on the NES although Zelda was a close second. Many great Mario games came after this one but none could beat the old raccoon suit.
