Solid but you better have skinny kids
This high chair is easy to assemble and use, easy to clean and is not an eyesore. The wheel locks work fairly well. The one problem is that the tray itself has to be pushed pretty far towards the seat back in order to truly lock into place. If it is clicked onto the arms away from the seat, it either hangs loose enough to risk food falling or it won't lock at all. We tried several, it is not a problem with our particular chair, it is just a design quirk. If your child quite skinny, no problem. But if normal or chubby, the tray will likely push against their ribs as they get up to 10+ months old.
fun fun fun
After 7 kids in a sturdy Perego high chair (which I replaced the seat pad once & found a whole chair replacement another time on ebay), I was disapointed it would need to be replaced again for my 8th child. Since they no longer make the pads and I was not happy with the new style - or spending $200 . . . . I came here first to see what other options were out there.
Anyway - the first alternative I saw was this cute Rainforest chair! I was sold right away from the picture, the price, and the reviews! I quickly checked out some other chairs - but, nothing else came close. The Perego we had was sturdy, basic looking, white & chrome . . . . this time around we are going for cheap and fun! It is definitly more light weight - but it actually seems ok - sturdy enough! The seat could use some more padding - I'm going to take the extra little pillow rest from the car seat and stick it under the seat and that should work. We do not have the tray problem that others have mentioned - it is snug and secure. One reason, though, I did not give 5 stars is that there is no place to hang the tray when the toy is in use! Really irritating. What is funny, though, is that you can hang the toy on the back of the chair - the whole thing sticks out horizontally . . .
Everyone loves helping in the entertainment department with the toy. The harness was a great idea! Our previous chair did not recline so we are looking forward to this feature . . . In my opinion wheels are essential - 16 years ago Perego was about the only one with this feature - they really come in handy.
As far as clean-up goes all looks well except the piping - why did they have to use fabric? And looks - well it's very attractive, but - even my husband frowned at the beige instead of white. So, these two little things in addition to the lack of a tray hanger got it only 4 stars.
Overall - this is my favorite new baby thing! Now - I think we'll also try the jumperoo!
11/20/07: UPDATE: Now that we have been using this highchair for a few months I have found that the self-locking wheels are driving me crazy! No one ever goes to the trouble to actually lock them - but, several times a day I find myself fighting the chair across the kitchen floor only to inspect each wheel and then unlock which ever ones have locked themselves.
AND we did get the Jumperoo which the baby enjoys - especially now that she is a little older.
Good but expensive
This is the only high chair I've used, but I'm quite happy with it. I have two complaints about it. The first is the fabric piping on the vinyl seat. The vinyl seat can be wiped off, but the piping on the seat needs to be washed. My second complaint is the price. Fisher Price makes a similar model that costs $40 less. It doesn't come with the tree toy and it doesn't have the casters (wheels). The toy is pretty lame. My son can't even reach any of the spinny things on it. The casters seem completely unneccessary. The chair doesn't weigh much and is easy to move around with the casters locked. I would buy the cheaper model if I were to buy another one. (I think the cheaper one doesn't have the fabric piping.)
