Average customer review:Product Description
It’s a gathering of Latin American beans chosen for their sparkling flavor. Kind of like orange juice and the way it dances on your tongue, this coffee has a get-up-and-going charge to it. But we roast these beans a little lighter than we usually do. So the flavor is lighter-bodied and milder—just a nudge really. What you get is a nice, clean taste with a sunny disposition. Whether your cup is half full or half empty, it’s all good.

Customer Reviews
If you love your coffee at Starbucks, you should like this one too
The Breakfast blend has a well-balanced taste that goes well with the frothed milk in the cappuccino but you probably need something a little stronger for an espresso. 40 ounces should be enough for some 40+ Venti equivalents, only more affordable - and just think of what Starbucks would charge you for 40 Ventis.
Briefly:
- one month or more of daily cappuccinos or Venti-size coffees
- I happen to prefer the house blend but the Breakfast is not so bad in the morning or in-between something more potent
- bag does not seal very well, be prepared to store the beans in your own container if you want them to stay fresh
- somewhat competitive (when sold by Amazon as a super-saver item) with what you'd get from a brick and mortar discounter if you factor in the convenience factor
- it would be even more competitive if it was offered as a subscription item but this is not the case at the time of this writing
The Breakfast Blend gets five stars because I'm one of those who only rarely go to an actual Starbucks store but happen to enjoy their blends so, when it comes to coffee, Starbucks is my 'daily coffee' that I drink at home and at the office.
Of course, coffee is as matter of individual taste :).
Average is too gracious a word.
Bland is much more appropriate. Even when increasing the amount of beans, the coffee is not very robust. If you add cream and sugar you cannot taste the coffee. This is with brewing it in both a drip coffeemaker and a press. Maybe I'm just used to a bolder blend, but I used to get Starbucks monthly, exclusive department store beans, I buy 'donut store' coffee, and even discount grocery store beans, and they were/all better than this.
Maybe missed expectations are part of my disappointment but if you like a bold coffee stay away from this.
At a Gold Box price I can live with it, but when it's gone it's gone.
Just as an aside, I quit the Starbucks monthly plan and I will not buy coffee on Amazon's subscribe and save because they send the same flavor every month. If either one of them would rotate the blends and surprise me I'd sign up.
Decent Cuppa Joe
Starbucks quality has declined overall in the past few years, probably because of the increased overall demand and relative scarcity of truly good quality coffee beans. This was a good buy only because Amazon offered it as a Gold Box deal, around $15 for a whopping 40 ounces. Otherwise, I'd say it was terribly overpriced at retail and only as good as the plain old supermarket blends. Starbucks needs to either get back to offering higher quality, or get serious about bringing down its astronomical prices to reflect its sub-orbital products. I'm especially disappointed with their French Roast, which used to be the best darn cup of coffee around but for the past couple years has been like plain old Eight O'Clock variety.
