Awesome :)
This box set includes the four books that compound Tamora Pierce's "The Immortals" series: "Wild Magic", "Wolf-Speaker", Emperor Mage" and "The Realms of the Gods". If you like fantasy books and haven't been lucky enough to read other books written by Pierce you will discover a great new author. But if you are already a fan of the author, I can assure you something: these books won't change your opinion of her skills.
In a way, it is more of the same, with a different plot, but lots of adventure, magic, humour and action. "The Immortals" is also set in Pierce's Tortall, and if you have read her "Song of the Lioness" series you will have the possibility of meeting old friends again, for example Alanna, George, King Jonathan and Queen Thayet, Raoul and Duke Gareth.
Notwithstanding that, there are also new characters, the most important one being Daine, an orphan girl who is 13 years old and can communicate with animals, because she has "Wild magic". As we read the books, we go along with her in her long and difficult journey to master her skills, and make peace with what and who she is. Her teacher will be a powerful mage, Numair, and her friends a large number and sometimes a little strange, because due to her powers she isn't confined to make friends among the "two-leggers".
One of the advantages of buying the box set is that by doing so you can have all the books at hand, thus being able to start another book as soon as you finish the previous one without having to run to buy it. And believe me, you will enjoy them so much that is highly likely that you would do exactly that, if you were to buy them one by one. Moreover, buying them in the box set is cheaper :)
I started reading Tamora Pierce when I was 12, but I still read many of her books from time to time, even though I am quite a bit older now. The reason?. Pierce's books are great for teens, but some adults also enjoy them. I guess it is more or less what happens with Harry Potter's books, loved by children, teens and adults that have young hearts.
All in all, I highly recommend these books, as enjoyable reading material that will make you smile. Enjoy them !!!

AWESOME!
I first picked Wild Magic up in Borders as a 'filler' while I waited for the next Harry Potter. (I bought it because of the horses on the cover) It sat on my shelf for two months before I decided to read it. Much to my surprise, I found that I liked these books BETTER than Harry Potter! ( And that is saying something comsidering how obsessed I was with those!)
I was immediately hooked when I began the first Chapter and I couldn't put it down. By the time I nearly finished with the last book in the quartet, I was thoroughly depressed at the prospect of finishing Daine's story. I was so obsessed with the need to savor this book, that I wrapped it in several layers of rubber bands and hid it under my mattress. When I actually did finish it, I was depressed for a while knowing that there are no more books written from Daine's perspective. That is, I was depressed until I found Fanfiction.net. I have read every single piece of fanfiction about these books on the site, and I have even written a few of my own!
This book is so real that after a while, you can almost start to believe in Magic. Tamora Pierce creates such vivid, involving characters, that I literally fell in love with everyone; from the dashing Mage Numair, to the feisty pony Cloud.
I would recommend this book to anyone (not just kids) who likes good fantasy/adventure/romance books!!
I read these books first, but I recommend reading The Song of the Lioness first. (Which was also an awesome book!)
HAPPY READING!
Wow
After reading many fantasy books, and enjoying their simplicity and fun, I thought I might have seen everything there was to see about fantasy books, though I would keep reading them. Soon after this unbelievably wrong thought crossed my mind, I picked up the first Alanna book, and saw how amazing certain types of fiction could be. When I finished the entire Lioness Quartet, I rushed to the library to pick up the Immortals Series. I was not let down, and certainly no disappointment showed through my awe of Ms. Pierce's writing, as not formulaic as humanly possible. Throughout the series, you are given interesting cliff hangers and shocking surprises. Daine turns into a very real girl, going through her rather difficult trials. Numair adds humour and grounding to the story, and is also a wonderful character. You wont be disappointed by the appearances of characters from the Song of the Lioness series. As Daine comes to grips with her magic and past, her world is thrown into chaos with political and romantic intrigues around her, and the world as humans know it is disappearing, one immortal sighting at a time. As you will soon find, Immortals are creatures from the Divine Realms who were imprisoned by mages many years ago. They start appearing throughout the lands, evil ones such as Spidrens- spiders with human heads, hurroks- evil winged horses, and ambivalent ones, griffins, and others. These, mixed with political intrigue, and Daine's uncanny ability- soon discovered to be magic- to talk to animals are woven in the beautifully enticing books. You wont be disappointed if you buy them.
