Average customer review:
If you think Bob's latest book is much the same as his last book (Diggers, Funnies, Gassers & Altereds - Drag Racing's Golden Age), you are mistaken!

After reviewing my copy, I was thrilled to see more great examples of his photographic work (and G.K. Callaway & others), but what makes this book memorable to me is the photo captions from Bob. His recollections provide a different insight - informative, often humorous and sometimes surprising with his "inside" view of drag racing.

I thoroughly enjoyed viewing the photos and reading Bob's thoughts and I think you will, too!

Photos of most of the top drag racing stars are included as expected, but many lesser known drag cars are included, too.

This is another winning book from CarTech that any drag racing fan will love to have.

Review

Hemmings Muscle Machines, January 2007

"Many consider drag racing's golden age to have occurred during the 1960s and '70s, and nostalgia for that period seems to swell with each passing year. So how cool would it be to have a trove of photographs from someone who stood trackside at some of the most legendary drag meets of the day? Now Bob has assembled over 300 of his favorite shots from those days."

About the Author

Bob McClurg grew up in 1950s southern California, where he was surrounded (and heavily influenced) by early hot rod culture.  In 1964, Bob shot his first drag race at Lions Associated Drag Strip, and a four-plus-decade career in racing photography was launched.  Bob's photos have been published in all the major drag racing publications, as well as two previous CarTech titles, Diggers, Funnies, Gassers & Altereds and Supercharging and Turbocharging Small-Block Ford Engines.  He still lives in Southern California.

ANOTHER SUPERLATIVE EFFORT5
This book is superb, even surpassing McClurg's earlier tome. Lots of sharp color and black and white images. The book is divided into genres, like slingshots, gassers, etc. I'd have liked a few more fuel altered shots, but that's quibbling. It's an excellent book that you should make it your business to get.

awesome book5
Great stories on the history of drag racing. The pictures are excellent. if your a drag racing buff, this book is great

The Way It Was5
McClurg's book is spectacular!!! Love the way the book flows, awesome photos from the various eras. Especially good with the early 1970's rear engine fuelers. First rate!
