Product Description

The Mini is the quality scooter for young children. Its unique 'lean-and-steer' design allows children to use their body weight to control the steering, giving kids the feeling of 'surfing' the sidewalk, as they curve from right to left, almost like a skateboard, adding an element of fun and control that young children love. The Mini scooter is designed with 3 wheels for greater stability and control. The polyurethane wheels create a wonderfully smooth glide -- and a quiet ride (a joy for parents and children alike!). The kickboard is low-to-the-ground and large enough for two feet, making it easy for young children to hop on and off and to switch from pushing -- to just enjoying the ride. The 'spoon' brake at the back adds additional control, and kids like it because its just like the 'big kid' scooters. For parents, the Mini scooter is light weight (only 3.3lbs), so it's easy to pick up and carry when need be. The Mini scooter makes scooting fun for young children at the same time as helping to develop their balance, co-ordination and motor skills. The Mini scooter is designed with a weight recommendation of 60lbs. Please note that the scooter displays a weight limit of 20kg (44 lbs). The reason for the discrepancy is that European standards dictate that weights are approved and displayed only in increments of 10 kg (22lbs), so the next available weight category of 30 kg, or 66 lbs, would have put the displayed recommended weight limit OVER its actual recommendation of 60 lbs. And, the best just got even better - the original Mini scooter has been improved! The design team at Micro-Mobility in Switzerland, are always working to achieve ever-higher standards of excellence. They have recently added a reinforced brake, stronger U-bar, and a new locking pin for easy handlebar removal.

The ergonomics and handling of the Mini-Micro were developed with youngsters in mind, with three wheels to keep the rider from falling over, a back brake for safety, low ground clearance, and a simple Powerstic steering mechanism. The company also avoided using any sharp edges in the Mini-Micro to prevent unfortunate bumps and bruises. The BEST toddler scooter out there by far5
This scooter is simply the best one out there - because the 2 wheels are in the front, they don't get in the way of the kids trying kicking off with their feet. And because to turn, they have to lean vs steer, I feel it is safer as it tends to just go straight. As the kids improve, they figure out how to turn, but that's what's so good, they do it at their own pace. Even though this scooter says it's for age 3, we bought it for my son's 2nd birthday because he tried someone else's and shocked us by being able to ride it well. He had tried those other 3-wheeled scooters with the 2 wheels in the back and couldn't really ride them - the design of this one is just so superior. He absolutely LOVES LOVES LOVES it and just about every day, people ask how old he is and they are shocked, they say they can't believe how well a 2-year-old can ride a scooter. But it's not him, it's this scooter! Don't waste your money on the cheap "cartoony" scooters, just get one of these, your kids will be zipping around in minutes!

Per manufacturers website, the weight limit is 70 lbs; Not 44 lbs! :-)5
I was considering purchasing this for my 5 year girl but when I saw the weight restriction of 44 lbs, I was hesitant thinking she would outgrow it within the next year.

However, after checking out the manufacturers website, I found this when has now made me decide to purchase this safer looking scooter than others for my little girl:

"* The mini scooter is designed with a weight recommendation of 70lbs. Please note that the bottom of the scooter shows a weight limit of 20kg, which is 44 lbs. The reason for the discrepancy is that European standards dictate that weights are displayed only in increments of 20, 50 and 100kg."

Fantastic Scooter BUT you will need replacement parts4
My six year old is still riding this scooter (he's just under the weight limit), and I wish they made one for older kids. We live in NYC, and he uses it to get back and forth to school every day, and pretty much everywhere else. He got a Huffy model when he was 3, and when that fell apart we bought this one (since the new Huffy model is nowhere near as good). My one major complaint is that the back wheel wears down pretty quickly, and we are on our third replacement brake. The parts are easy to order online. The site is called minimicrousa (or something like that). Interestingly, this site claims that the weight limit is actually 70 pounds.
