Customer Reviews
ECONOMICAL TO USE AND DEFINITELY OKAY FOR MOST FOLKS -- BUT EXTRA SOFT IT IS NOT
IN A NUTSHELL: A KINDER GENTLER VERSION OF THE MOST POPULAR BATHROOM TISSUE SINCE TIME BEGAN
*- ECONOMICAL & UNIVERSALLY ACCEPTABLE PRODUCT BUT NOT ALWAYS THE BEST FOR EVERYONE
THE "BOUNTY" of Bathroom Tissue: SCOTT EXTRA SOFT
Just like the standard "Scott Bathroom Tissue" this "Extra Soft" variety is strong, very long lasting, and a terrific value. The paper has a different lighter texture which is three dimensional, softer and more absorbent than the standard variety. If you liked the standard Scott Bathroom tissue, you will love this stuff.
ON THE OTHER HAND!
However, just like the standard vareity, there is one rub -- it is a little rough for a kinder gentler tissue, especially for people that require something softer, which was why they recently introduced this "Scott's Extra Soft" product. Yes, it is softer, and better in almost every way than the old Scott's, but in my opinion that makes it better for general use, not special needs.
FOR SPECIAL NEEDS:
"Charmin Ultra" would be a better choice if you need extra softness and though it does get used up faster it is much easier on those who need the extra softness.
SCOTT'S BATHROOM TISSUE - THE GOLD STANDARD FROM WHEN TIME BEGAN:
Scott's has always been considered the "Gold Standard" for the bathroom, but its superiority has been challenged increasingly in recent years. If you still like this product, there is no reason to change. However if your needs now require a softer tissue, this "Scott's Extra Soft" may work for you. If you need something softer or with aloe or lotion there is always "Charmin Ultra".
I HEARD IT ON THE GRAPEVINE:
I have recently noticed as have other reviewers, that the glued end of the paper roll that must be pulled apart in order to start the roll seems very hard to detach. This seems to be a new phenomenon and leads me to believe that things have changed at Scott and not for the better. Maybe it is just a fluke. Maybe it is no big deal. And maybe the Scott Bathroom tissue isn't quite as good as it used to be. Maybe it is rougher and coarser than before. Just maybe! In the meantime, however, I am now using "Charmin Ultra" after 40 years of continuous Scott patronage.

NOT Extra Soft
It's Scott Bath Tissue, but it's not extra soft! It has more of scratching feel. I only buy Scott Toilet Paper, so I thought I would try this version. I won't throw it away, so now we have to suffer through the whole case. Try another brand.
Great toilet paper when you are looking to save $$$
This is not your typical Scott toilet paper. It has a soft texture and is strong enough to stand up while being used. If you don't need a lot of extra cushiness (but still want something soft) and have had enough of toilet paper lint, this is the paper for you. Especially if you are buying for a family. The rolls last as long as the regular Scott rolls. It is all we have been buying since it first came out.
