This is a small and very portable Go set. The "stones" are similar to magnetic checker set pieces, made of plastic with a small magnet inside. Most Go players would love to have one of these handy in a pinch.

These are a step up from the slim "single convex" stones listed above. Still inexpensive, though.

Although traditional boards are 8" thick and cost over $1000, this is a nice compromise, and worthy of the traditional stones listed above. This board has legs, so it can sit on the floor for a more authentic game experience. The stones will make a nice sound as they contact the board- a factor that's important to players.

This is a convenient household go set. The drawers are a very nice and unique feature that help to keep your set together without taking up too much space. This is a small board, and the pieces are plastic. This might also be useful to take along on a road trip, but not quite as portable as a magnetic set.

This is a widely distributed beginner's Go book, which provides a nice introduction to the game. This book does not provide in-depth tutorials for learning players.

This is my recommended first Go book! This book, and the set it's part of, provide very readable and accessible instructions and examples to help grow a new Go player so they can start to compete.
