About the Author
In 1990, Sharon Hamblin got her first taste of travel when she went to Europe for a traditional coming-of-age backpacking trip across the continent. From then on, itÂ’s been nonstop travel for the California-born writer, who calls Hawaii her home base. While working as a waitress/restaurant manager in Kauai for 12 years, Hamblin continued to travel to exotic places starting with a yearlong visit to New Zealand and Australia. Connections that she met in Sydney, Australia brought her back to the country three more times for house-sitting stints. Between trips to Australia and working in Hawaii, Hamblin traveled to Bali, Indonesia twice and back to Europe (mostly Paris) twice. The frequent flier miles really added up with several trips to California and many trips to other Hawaiian Islands. Over the years, she has written several freelance magazine and web-site articles about Hawaii, food and wine, entertaining and smart traveling. Her first book, the Adventure Guide to Maui, was published in 2006. She is currently working on a second edition of the Maui guide.
