George Lucas. This trilogy literally changed film making!

Peter Jackson. I saw these films in my early twenties and felt the magic and mystical affect like I was experiencing a fantasy at age seven. I cannot say that about any other film I have seen in my life except Star Wars (which I actually saw at age seven). Peter Jackson accomplished something akin to the theory of relativity in the film industry with these films!

Francis Ford Coppola. If you haven't seen this movie- see it! If you have seen it then I don't need to elaborate on it.

George Lucas. Although not as captivating and groundbreaking as it's predecessor trilogy, they are entertaining and add a lot of depth and background to the original three. In hindsight, I always thought that Lucas should have used the same special effects technology and techniques he used in the original films. This, I believe, would have maintained the same tone and aura as the 70s films.
Back to the Future - The Complete Trilogy (Widescreen Edition)Back to the Future - The Complete Trilogy (Widescreen Edition)

Robert Zemeckis. A fantastic adventure story! I believe these three films are vastly underrated. The directing is great, the acting is great, and the story line is captivating and entertaining.
The Man with No Name Trilogy (A Fistful of Dollars, For A Few Dollars More, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly)The Man with No Name Trilogy (A Fistful of Dollars, For A Few Dollars More, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly)

Sergio Leone. Highly considered the all-time best of the spaghetti westerns. Clint Eastwood gives the performances that made him a household name. Again, the directing is outstanding and the sequel films do not lack.
Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy [Blu-ray]Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy [Blu-ray]

Gore Verbinski. This trilogy was far better than I ever thought it would be going into the theatre; and it accomplished the proviso that all great trilogies must claim: the sequels are just as accomplished as the first film.
The Bourne Trilogy (The Bourne Identity | The Bourne Supremacy | The Bourne Ultimatum)The Bourne Trilogy (The Bourne Identity | The Bourne Supremacy | The Bourne Ultimatum)
Buy new: $18.99 / Used from: $17.93
Paul Greengrass. A fast-paced action adventure trilogy! All three of these movies maintain the audiences attention throughout. The chase and fight scenes are excellent and not overdone. The directing is excellent as compared with the status-quo directing of most action films.
Ocean's Trilogy (Ocean's Eleven / Ocean's Twelve / Ocean's Thirteen)Ocean's Trilogy (Ocean's Eleven / Ocean's Twelve / Ocean's Thirteen)

Steven Soderbergh. The Oceans trilogy has a deep casting of top actors and actress including Pitt, Cloney, Damon, Julia Roberts, and Jolie. The plot is complex and involved but not to the point of convolution; it demands the audiences attention throughout and even incorporates a few twists.

Andy and Larry Wachowski. And to round off my list of ten I have chosen The Matrix. This series has a creative concept and amazing special effects. This is a well done Sci-Fi series and the only one to my knowledge that released the second and third theatrical films only a few weeks apart. However, I consider the second and third films to decline slightly as compared to the first.
