A nice addition to the UPPAbaby stroller, this car seat adapter allows me to snap the car seat into the stroller frame when I'm just running into and out of the car, rather than having to move my son from car seat to stroller. It's handy and worth the $40.

Your car seat needs a base, and it's handy to have a base in each car that the baby will be riding in often since they are a pain to install.

If you're breastfeeding and going back to work or would like to store up extra milk for emergencies or being away from the baby every once in a while, a good electric pump is key. I've been using the Lansinoh pump, and it works beautifully, for much, much less than the Medela Pump In Style.

This was very handy to store frozen milk as it doesn't take up much space and organizes the bags by date so you know which one to use next. Without it, I had a huge mess of bags in the freezer.

Handy for quickly sterilizing pump parts and baby bottles at home since it only takes a few minutes and will stay sterile for up to 24 hours.

When baby is a bit older, you may want to upgrade to a wrap carrier so it can spread his weight out across your shoulders, back, and hips. I use a Bali Baby Stretch wrap, which is similar to the Moby. Carriers like the Baby Bjorn are not great for babies' development since they place strain on the pelvis and sacral bones, and I've also found them to be hard on the parents' shoulders as well.

Okay, this one is a bit gadgety, but my son really loves it. It hangs in the crib and plays music or soothing sounds (ocean, waterfall, etc) for about 30 minutes. There are different songs to choose from and they are actually quite soothing, so it doesn't drive me crazy. It's not overstimulating since the movement is subtle and the light is sort of ambient.

These are excellent for a variety of uses - on the changing table, in the crib (for spit-up or leaks), in your bed if you sometimes nurse there, for going out as a portable changing pad, etc.

These are handy for when baby spits up in the middle of the night so that you don't have to hold sleepy baby with one hand while you try to lift the crib bumper and remove the very tight and wet fitted sheet from the mattress and then put on another very tight fitted sheet. I like the ones made by Koala Baby.

These make awesome burp cloths - very soft and absorbent and much cheaper than other ones I've tried.

A hooded towel is great for bath time since babies' heads lose so much heat, and it can be used for a long time.

These are great basic wear for babies - one piece clothing that is footed so no need for socks and which uses a zipper rather than snaps so it's much less stressful on you. Get a couple in a variety of sizes.

Nice to be able to hear baby in another part of the house. I did not feel I needed a video monitor as my condo is not very big so it's easy to just pop into my son's room and check on him, but if you have multiple floors or a large place, you may want to invest in a video monitor.

Simple baby bath that will allow your baby to actually feel submerged in water while staying safe and allowing you the use of your hands. It cleans and stores easily and doesn't have any mesh parts that can get mildewed. It can also be used until your child is two or three years old.

Nice, simple rattle that is made by a high-quality company and that doesn't contain any plastic or toxic dyes. It will last through multiple children and my son still loves it.
