The self Powered Light/Radio/Cell Charger utilizes a crank which is folded against the back of the light for power. Turning the crank charges a set of small internal rechargeable cells which then provide power to the rest of the built-in systems. The lighting portion of this device consists of three 5mm LEDs behind focusing lenses. However, there is also an FM radio and a siren which can be powered by the batteries, and the unit can be used to charge a Nokia type cell phone with the included charger cable

Beware of outrageous shipping cost
[Note: This item is listed multiple times by the same vender, so I am forced to repost my previously written review to warn other potential victims]
This item ("Illuminator Self Powered 4-in-1 ...") is often found in retail stores for around $20. So the $9.75 price given here sounds like a great deal. However, please beware that the vender (IGgFactory Handhelditems) charges $4.25 handling fee plus $0.99 per lb. for postage. In this particular case, even though the net weight of this item is only around 9 oz., the vender actually quotes a shipping weight of 7 lb.! That means you'll pay over $11 in shipping, which brings the final cost to nearly $21. At this price, you're better off buying the item from your local drug store.
[update on March 22, 2007]
Well, looks like IGgFactory has lowered the shipping weight to a more ressonable 2 lb., so I cannot complain about the shipping cost anymore.
cheap
God help me if I actually have to use this in an emergency. I will be so exhausted from cranking, I wont have any energy left to survive. (Not to mention the noise.) I timed it, and I got one and a half minutes of light for one minute of cranking. My kids like to play with it though.
man toy
I got this for my son and sons-in-law for Christmas. All of them seemed to like it and, of course, started cranking it as soon as they could open it. I think it is a good man toy and would be very helpful in a pinch. I wish I had gotten one for myself!
