Could it be Ivan Spudnik, the Russian rocket scientist, or maybe Chubby Cheddar, the hit rock 'n' roll musician with a secret? Somebody put a barbecue fork through car dealer Tom Dooley, and that somebody is at your dinner party. Bepuzzled's popular Murder à La Carte series makes your home the scene of the crime with a complete 1950's murder mystery that places your guests as the chief suspects. Only one of them knows for sure who put the fork in Dooley. Six to eight friends play roles from a sexy divorceé to greaser Johnny Angel, with plenty of scripts and suggestions on how to ham it up. The set includes an audiotape guide, background booklets for each player, special clues (including mysterious checks and blackmail letters), and anything else you need for an evening of unpredictable fun. There are even party invitations and tasty recipes. --Paul Hughes

A Murder Party for Adults
The box says this is for "Adults", especially since the game contains some flirty statements and descriptive accusations in the script. At the end of each script or dialogue each person had to accuse others of being the murderer, based on facts in their script booklet. The party planner's book gives great suggestions for props, music and food. We checked out a 50's CD from the library and played it all night long. We also had a hula hoop, 50's book and a 57 Chevy prop to go with the theme. The end had quite a twist, which made it fun and interesting. Overall, a fun game! Requires about three hours to play game. Note to Party Planner: Read through the first dialogue of the part you play to better understand how the dialogue should go. This will help you better explain to others. Have fun!
Best Party Ever
I saw one of these Murder Mystery games at a bookstore, and thought they looked interesting. This was my first Murder Mystery game I have ever hosted, and it was a blast!!!! Everyone come over dressed up in character, we had 50's music playing, and barbecue food. All of the guests got into the parts more than I thought they would!!! This was an extremely fun game, although I don't have any other mysteries to compare it to. Now we are planning to get together once a month for a Murder Mystery night! This game was just a blast!
IMPORTANT: Even though this game says 6-8 players (there are 2 non-suspect parts), I would highly reccomend there only being 6 players. The other two guests really had no part in any of the action. They just sort of sat there and watched. They aren't in any of the scripted parts, and people don't have replies to their questions. It should only be for 6 players!!!
Murder on the Grill - A Killer of a Fun Time
This was our first murder mystery party and it was a good one for novices. It was 100% scripted and included six guests. There can be up to 8 characters, but the two extra guests have no lines so we just had six. All the guests were into their character so this made it fun. Do not invite someone who is not really interested in taking on their role. After getting drinks and snacks, we began and decided to play through before eating dinner so it took us about an 1-1.5 hours and the murderer was a complete surprise. We did enjoy dressing up in the 50's theme and played 50's music, but the story is not so era sensitive that you could not change the theme/era. There are equal male/female roles and we had five females and one male, so we switched the parts around and our lonely boy had a girl's role while all three male parts were played by girls. The necessity of drag added another layer of fun. We enjoyed it throughly!
