Customer Reviews

Great budget surround sound4
I currently own an Onkyo receiver with JBL & Polk speakers and I love my system. After just recently buying a new HDTV set, the old one moved to the basement. I wanted to get a cheap system for the old TV so when I watch movies on it, I get surround. I got this system because it was so cheap (I paid $120 for it). Normally, I don't like HTIB systems, but this fit the bill nicely for a secondary TV. The DVD player works good as does the CD player. It supports Dolby Digital and Prologic II and has two auxiliary audio inputs, albeit analog ones. The iPod Dock works great and you can even use the remote to browse the iPod menus and the like. As far as sound quality is concerned, they sound good. Not great, not awesome, not mind-blowing, but good. They suffice as decent speakers and pump out enough volume to watch a movie. I've been impressed with the subwoofer, despite its size, it creates a nice bass sound; not as good as my other set, but it's not bad. Setup was dead simple and everything was straightforward. It would be a five-star, but the surround speaker cables could've been a tad longer, and you can't use your own wires. Otherwise everything is great for the price, an optical or digital input would have been nice, but I wasn't expecting one at this price point. Overall, this system is a great budget surround sound HTIB kit.

Good performance for the price4
very easy to install. Systems works great. We live in a townhouse condo and our space is not that big. The Phillips is perfect for us. If you're looking for a good starter system this really fits the bill.
