Product Description

Infinite Light, Lightning Dust's sophomore album for Jagjaguwar, finds duo Amber Webber and Joshua Wells (both of Black Mountain) calling upon the powers of classic pop arrangements and making the most of five days with a Steinway Grand piano. Moments of Infinite Light remind us of the glory days of musical theatre, with touches of Hair, Rocky Horror Picture Show and Tommy. Lightning Dust have delivered a cosmic record about the adventure in finding love and the journey in losing and rediscovering
"the light."

Editorial Reviews

Review
"[T]he shadowy and skeletal, slightly foreboding beauty of their songs...[recalls] a doomier Mazzy Star."
4 out of 5 --Uncut

Review
"Reverb and echoes swaddle nearly every note....The most affecting moments are when the two share vocals..." --Cmj

Review
Lightning Dust: Amber Webber, Joshua Wells. A side project by two members of Canadian space rockers Black Mountain, Lightning Dust supplants the doomy heaviness of its mother band with a country- and folk-influenced form of largely acoustic acid rock that fits neatly in with contemporaries ranging from Lavender Diamond to Joanna Newsom. On this self-titled debut, singer Amber Webber's siren vocals and the spooky otherworldliness of songs like "When You Go" and "Castles and Caves" make for a an entrancing, occasionally disturbing sound. --Muze

Customer Reviews

I declare a war on you5
I want to marry Amber Webber's voice. As a member of Black Mountain she is a vital team player, but as half of Lightning Dust she reveals her power and her potential. Joined with Joshua Wells (also of Black Mountain) the songwriting pair debut with a record that lingers like the memory of the first sunrise you ever watched, the first time you ever saw the Rockies, the first time you kissed the woman you loved. A great vocalist should be versatile, able to scream themselves raw at one moment but bringing their audience to tears with subtle grace the next. Amber Webber does both of these at the same time on "Infinite Light." I want to marry Amber Webber's voice.
